Near Scarborough, this site is ideal for exploring Yorkshire’s coast and moors.

Our Scarborough Club campsite lies just north of the Victorian seaside resort of the same name and is perfectly located for exploring the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast and the North York Moors National Park.

Scarborough is a large family-friendly campsite with 300 pitches. It is a spacious site with well-placed modern facility blocks. Younger campers are catered for with two play parks and a football pitch and there’s a recreation room too. There’s a small on site chippy, a well stocked shop and a dog exercise field.

From the campsite, it’s an easy walk to the town’s Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary and the North Bay beach along a pleasant cliff-top path. The site is a ten-minute walk from the Cleveland Way National Trail which hugs the North Yorkshire coast and a traffic-free cycle path passes close to the site on the way to Whitby.

West of the campsite North Riding Forest Park (or Dalby Forest as it is also known) has many waymarked trails for walkers and mountain bikers. You can go orienteering here too. Go Ape! Offers tree top adventure with ropes and zip wires or, if you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, enjoy the forest on a Segway.

Head north to Staintondale for the Shire Horse centre. Learn about the North Yorkshire coast at the Ravenscar Coastal Centre. From here it’s a three-mile beach walk to the pretty fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay. Whitby, ten miles further on, offers the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, Lifeboat Museum and Whitby Abbey. Catch a train to Grosmont, the terminus for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. This 18-mile heritage line runs across the National Park to Pickering. Jump off at Goathland (or Aidensfield for TVs Heartbeat fans).

Ready Camp is available at this campsite.

Take a wet suit for the shower block.

This review is for Scarborough

Take a wet suit for the shower block. Shivering to the bone coldness of the non-adjustablle shower water temperature is beyond a joke. I extended my stay each night in hope luke warm shower temperature issue would be fixed. Several of us did complain and were told that the temperature had been checked and was ok. It is not ok. The shower/toilet blocks have heaters that should have been turned on. The water temperature is far too low and the likely reason why guests like myself caught a nasty pneumonia strength flu. I gave up and booked into a local B&B until May. A real shame because the best thing about the site is the outstandingly well run and friendly staff trained adjoining carvery restaurant that serves exceptionally good quality/service value carvery meals. By the way this business has nothing to do with the Caravan and Camping Association.

Site has quite a steep slope, chocks and blocks at the ready.

This review is for Scarborough

Site has quite a steep slope, chocks and blocks at the ready. Showers were not very hot and shower block was cold. That would be my only criticism, apart from that a great site.

Our first visit to the Scarbourough site and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This review is for Scarborough

Our first visit to the Scarbourough site and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The site is well located for visiting Scarbourough and all of the local area. The site facilities are clean and well maintained. The only hickup was the pitch we were allocated on our first night sloped quite a lot, the ground was very wet and soft and consequently we were unable to drive off the next morning. Fortunatley an AA man on site kindly towed us off the pitch. The site team did relocate us to a more level pitch for the second night but again the ground was so soft we again needed assistance to drive off the pitch. We will definatley stay here again but will book a hardstanding pitch !!
