Near Scarborough, this site is ideal for exploring Yorkshire’s coast and moors.

Our Scarborough Club campsite lies just north of the Victorian seaside resort of the same name and is perfectly located for exploring the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast and the North York Moors National Park.

Scarborough is a large family-friendly campsite with 300 pitches. It is a spacious site with well-placed modern facility blocks. Younger campers are catered for with two play parks and a football pitch and there’s a recreation room too. There’s a small on site chippy, a well stocked shop and a dog exercise field.

From the campsite, it’s an easy walk to the town’s Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary and the North Bay beach along a pleasant cliff-top path. The site is a ten-minute walk from the Cleveland Way National Trail which hugs the North Yorkshire coast and a traffic-free cycle path passes close to the site on the way to Whitby.

West of the campsite North Riding Forest Park (or Dalby Forest as it is also known) has many waymarked trails for walkers and mountain bikers. You can go orienteering here too. Go Ape! Offers tree top adventure with ropes and zip wires or, if you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, enjoy the forest on a Segway.

Head north to Staintondale for the Shire Horse centre. Learn about the North Yorkshire coast at the Ravenscar Coastal Centre. From here it’s a three-mile beach walk to the pretty fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay. Whitby, ten miles further on, offers the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, Lifeboat Museum and Whitby Abbey. Catch a train to Grosmont, the terminus for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. This 18-mile heritage line runs across the National Park to Pickering. Jump off at Goathland (or Aidensfield for TVs Heartbeat fans).

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Please note there are building works in the area of the site, so there may be some noise heard from these at times.

No hard standing.

This review is for Scarborough

No hard standing. Ground muddy and boggy resulting in our motor home getting stuck one two occasions . Staff helped first time by manually digging us out and placing plastic boards underneath one of the wheels! On the second time we borrowed a tow rope from reception and another camper kindly towed us off in his discovery. On arriving back at the site after being out all the day the-pitch we were on was all dug up with deep grooves from the tyre marks just a total mess. Left one night early and had to drive back in rush hour. Very disappointed as we have never had this problem before and would not return to this particular site again.

Scarborough site is clean and tidy staff are friendly and helpful, they let you have a choice of pitche, the shop is only small, just as what you need. There is a small room full of info including times for the buses. Just a short walk along the road is a tesco store, about 15mins it also as a card machine outside. About 20mins you can be at the sealife centre. Scalby manor was the old manor house in the past with its gate house, it is now a carvery but you can also get a normal meal. My wife and I have now been twice to the site, I like the place and it is site we would certainly go dack to.

g pitch, be prepared to be stuck in swampy, muddy pitches.

g pitch, be prepared to be stuck in swampy, muddy pitches. We were shown to 3 pitches on arrival and had to be towed off 2 by other very helpful campers as we were wheel-spinning in about 6 inch deep mud. The camp staff and manager were not much use and kept saying that they 'couldn't help the weather' and maybe we should get our tyres checked! Yes, the weather was bad but the site should at least have a towing vehicle on site as we were not the only ones complaining. One visitor had to get the RAC out because he was stuck and again got the response from the reception staff that 'they couldn't help the weather'.It is a shame & spoiled our stay as otherwise it is a nice site in a good location.

Good site but has a few issues. Staff excellent. Shower block needs an update, very tired, clean ish, lino on floor poor and cracked, not very warm building, would not like to go in them in winter. Caravan plots on mesh hard standing, but very poor and soft and muddy. Needs hardcore maybe really.
