Near Scarborough, this site is ideal for exploring Yorkshire’s coast and moors.

Our Scarborough Club campsite lies just north of the Victorian seaside resort of the same name and is perfectly located for exploring the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast and the North York Moors National Park.

Scarborough is a large family-friendly campsite with 300 pitches. It is a spacious site with well-placed modern facility blocks. Younger campers are catered for with two play parks and a football pitch and there’s a recreation room too. There’s a small on site chippy, a well stocked shop and a dog exercise field.

From the campsite, it’s an easy walk to the town’s Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary and the North Bay beach along a pleasant cliff-top path. The site is a ten-minute walk from the Cleveland Way National Trail which hugs the North Yorkshire coast and a traffic-free cycle path passes close to the site on the way to Whitby.

West of the campsite North Riding Forest Park (or Dalby Forest as it is also known) has many waymarked trails for walkers and mountain bikers. You can go orienteering here too. Go Ape! Offers tree top adventure with ropes and zip wires or, if you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, enjoy the forest on a Segway.

Head north to Staintondale for the Shire Horse centre. Learn about the North Yorkshire coast at the Ravenscar Coastal Centre. From here it’s a three-mile beach walk to the pretty fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay. Whitby, ten miles further on, offers the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, Lifeboat Museum and Whitby Abbey. Catch a train to Grosmont, the terminus for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. This 18-mile heritage line runs across the National Park to Pickering. Jump off at Goathland (or Aidensfield for TVs Heartbeat fans).

Love the micro-climate of Scarborough.

This review is for Scarborough

Love the micro-climate of Scarborough. Rest of the country flooding but not that part of Yorkshire! Rang the site on the off chance in the morning & they said "no problem". That comment mirrored the entire visit.

This site has been transformed now that it is run by the CCC.

This review is for Scarborough

This site has been transformed now that it is run by the CCC. There are now friendly helpful staff, it is well maintained and has an on-site shop selling the best fish and chips that we have tasted for years. A wide selection of well-spaced pitches is available, many with wide-ranging views. All very good.

Just returned from a three night stay which was very enjoyable clean site showers and toilets very well maintained didnt take advantage of the chip shop but many did and had good reports. There is a pub next to site accessed out of a gate at the back of the site. Ideal site to walk into Scarborough..about 40 mins over the cliff path just across from the site. There is also a bus into Whitby just down the road ( about 15 mins walk) from the site. Beware that the last bus from Whitby is very early if traveling on Sunday ( about 5.25 !) Over all well worth a visit.
