Great base for an activity weekend in Dalby Forest.

This review is for Dalby Forest Pexton Moor Farm

Great base for an activity weekend in Dalby Forest. Used for Moors and Shores Event Myself and 2 cycling buddies used this site for the Moors and Shores Adventure Cross Event. Simple site in a stunning location. A working farm, Wendy was trying to deliver a lamb as we arrived! Warm welcome, a simple site with good grass pitches and great views. Small shower block and wash up area but perfectly adequate and nice and clean. Bit of a long walk to the nearest pub, about 2 miles, we used the Fox n Rabbit, which you may need to book in advance, it was busy. Local Taxi details listed in the was up area. Site located right at the entrance to Dalby Forest which has good cycling routes and a "Go Ape" climbing centre. We didn't use them but the "Glamping Pods" on the campsite looked really good as well. We had great weather so we were able to use BBQ and short walk to shower block was pretty dry underfoot, in wetter weather wellies might be a good move. If we visit this area again we would definitely use this site again, it was perfect for our very enjoyable weekend. Thanks Wendy and Family.

A lovely quiet site perfectly placed at the entrance to Dalby Forest, which is great if you love walking and Mountain biking, and perfect for exploring the Moors and visiting York. Gorgeous views across the fields to the hills beyond. The owners were very friendly and provide lot of info on local attractions. The site is flat and well kept with lovely large marked pitches. The facilities are good with 2 showers - one of which is suitable for disabled people. We will definitely be returning and recommending it to friends.

An excellent location for walking and cycling breaks, being right at the entrance to Dalby Forest and a short drive to Pickering. The steam trains will take you over the North York Moors from Pickering, or drive yourself to many of the beautiful scenic locations on the moors. Scarborough and Filey are nor far. Local shops a mile or two away in Thornton le Dale, which is itself an interesting village with many amenities. The site is tidy and basic with a great panoramic view to the West. The camping field has a slight slope, but is flat and grassed. There are no special facilities for children, but the forest is right on the doorstep! Ample hook-ups. While a certified CCC site, no mention was made when booking or signing in of club membership, and there could potentially be more than 5 units plus quite a few tents. We paid £14 per night for the 2 of us in our camper van with electric. Showers and washing up point provided all inclusive. We enjoyed 6 nights with varied weather, and would return to do some of the things we never got around to doing. Recommended.
