Overview

This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operates under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.
Whilst the majority of Certificated Sites do permit children, please be aware that this site has chosen to be Adults Only.

Thornthorpe caravan park is a family run, adults only site set on our 200 acre farm, which is situated near the market town of Malton. We are located between York and the east coast Our newly opened site has grass only pitches with electric hook-ups and it also has a brand new shower and toilet block. The site is set in a peaceful location next to a stream where you are likely to see an abundance of wildlife and birds and it is the ideal site for anyone wanting to get away from hustle and bustle of a busy life. There is plenty to do in the area and we have many local pubs and restaurants nearby. The nearest town is only 2 miles away so if you ever need anything you haven’t far to go. On an evening why not hire one of our fire pits or barbecues

Set in an old orchard this site is looked after by Ryan and his dog Indy ( with a little help from his parents and brother ). It is spotless with good modern facilities and although in a quiet country area is also within easy reach of shops and at least one good pub. Above all, the welcome makes you feel like old friends.

This site ticked all the boxes for us, very clean, well looked after, grass cut regular, in orchard, small stream far end of site, ver quiet day and night, very nice owners. Local village pub 3mls away provided great meals at low cost. The only criticism I have is the low electric supply being 6amps which is unusual today unless in France, but we managed by switching off the water heater when using the camping kettle alone with the TV and fridge. Intend to visit again. Thank you to the owners for a wonderful site.

This is a very reluctant review because when a real gem is found the instinct is to keep it a well-kept secret ! Although a very new campsite it already excels over the majority of other sites and after nearly forty years of touring this is one of the best sites we have ever visited. As described in the summary - a pretty orchard with babbling stream and both sunrise and sunsets as a bonus it is hard to beat, Add on lovely walks, at least 4 dog friendly pubs within 3 miles and malton just up the road and it ticks all the boxes plus some. The owners are extremely friendly finding time to talk while running a very busy farm and beautiful equestrian centre. Downside ? It is going to be very hard to get in once word gets around and it is featured in the Camping & Caravanning guide next year ! Book early !
