Excellent site and site manager Richard did everything to make one feel welcome even to the extent of parking the caravan if needed. All pitches were grass although I would my lawn to be that good! On a slight incline so you will need some levelling. Limited toilet and showers although there were 20 or so pitches occupied and there was no queuing. Washing and drying was via one washer/dryer on an honesty box principle. Will definately go back and site manager is excellent.

Richard keeps the facilities scrupulously clean.

Richard keeps the facilities scrupulously clean. There are good dog walks from the site through fields. Dogs have to be kept on lead as cows and sheep are in them. Leyburn, is a lovely little market town within walking distance and Campbells is a grocery/deli in the town with a huge range of local and international foods. Try their air cured bacon, yummy!

To be lulled to sleep by the sound of a babbling brook and a hooting owl is really rather idyllic! What a great site this is. There are two fields both with superb views of the North Yorkshire Moors and Middleham Castle (once home of Richard III). If you are up early enough you can even see the racehorses being exercised on the gallops in the distance. The fields are very well maintained, Richard the owner was seeding pitches as we left, the smaller of the two having weeping willows and wild flowers in the middle. The facilities were spotlessly clean and well maintained even with pictures in the loo! There is a small grassed area with picnic tables and a summer house with leaflets about the local attractions, which are many an varied. The town of Leyburn, two minutes drive or a short walk away, has several nice shops and at least 8 pubs and restaurants, from 'fine dining' at The Sandpiper to the ubiquitous curry house. About 15 minutes away is a smallish but superbly stocked organic farm shop called Berry's, it is open every day selling locally sourced fresh food. In the other direction, beyond Middleham Castle, is Brymor ice cream parlour. They hand make the ice cream on the farm from milk form their own cows and invent really different and many flavours, at least 30 at our visit! All in all a great place for a break. The couple in the 'van next to us had been there 33 times before - says it all really! Richard and Lynne the owners were very welcoming, friendly and helpful with lots of local knowledge and a desire to create a haven of peace and a beautiful place to relax. They certainly succeed!
