Our 1st experience of a CS site. Brilliant.

This review is for Brockalee Farm

Our 1st experience of a CS site. Brilliant. Clean, very friendly, wonderful views, lots to do in the area. Highly recommended. No wifi. Thoroughly enjoyed our first CS site. Good basic facilities (no washing up area), plenty of hot water and all kept very clean. Lots to see and do in the area and the site owner very knowledgeable and free with his information. Facilities being extended. The donkeys caused some amusement, harrassing the sheep when they got bored! Will revisit in due course.

Jeff and Sheila very friendly and informative, fresh eggs were offered on arrival.

Jeff and Sheila very friendly and informative, fresh eggs were offered on arrival. Jeff was full of local knowledge, village pub 500yds. Pitches all hard standing and EHC with grass for awning, good drainage even though we had some very heavy rain. Toilet block has 1 WC and 1 shower at moment kept very clean, second WC and shower in progress. Nearest shop, Co-op Haydon Bridge, more in Hexham including M&S clothes and food. Site is perfectly situated Hadrians wall and Roman museums and workings at Vindolanda. Dog walking good on local footpaths, wildlife in abundance, the donkeys are very friendly, I saw deer in the field behind the site. This site is ideally situated for Hexham, Haltwistle, Corbridge, Alston, Brampton and Carlisle and Newcastle. I enjoyed our visit to this site even though we had some adverse weather, will definitely be back.

This is definitely a site that will make you want to return.

This is definitely a site that will make you want to return. From a great welcome (including a gift of some fantastic eggs, one of which was the biggest I have ever seen) the whole stay was very good. Having previously read reviews we had seen one comment about a nearby road and so had a few reservations, however we had no problem with the road being further down the hill and shielded by trees and bushes. As others have already said, the hard standing pitches, plus the new shower and toilet block are excellent. Sitting in or out watching the donkeys is a bonus lol. We spent the days visiting Hadrian's Wall, Carlisle and also Kielder Forest including the dam and also the Observatory. (Saw a Cuckoo which had been very vocal). In the evenings we ventured down to the local pub which is very friendly, where the beer and wine were good, as were the prices!! The pub serves food but not on Monday's. Next stay will be longer!!

Nice level pitch, shower and loo nice in an almost completed block.

Nice level pitch, shower and loo nice in an almost completed block. We cycled from hexham to the site to test our new tent all OK. We know the area well being "locals" lots to do in the area. The wall is good for kids, the Hadrian cycle route passes within 500 yards. Good pub in village.
