Pitch in a lovely clearing in the forests of Northumberland in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and European Geopark.

Haltwhistle Club campsite’s setting in a clearing in Bellister Wood makes it the ideal get-away-from-it-all camping destination. The wood, once part of the Bellister Castle Estate, is now managed by the National Trust and is a haven for wildlife and you could find yourself sharing your pitch with rabbits and birds, including woodpeckers.

This 50 pitch site between the Northumberland National Park and North Pennines is surrounded by magnificent walking and cycling country. The Haltwhistle Rings – a series of 22 local walks is one way to take in the local scenery along with Hadrian’s Wall, five miles from the campsite, offers picturesque walking opportunities.

Back at Haltwhistle campsite, the adjacent River Tyne provides fishing for those with the appropriate rod licence.

After a day cycling or walking or enjoying some of the area’s many attractions our secluded campsite among the trees is a peaceful oasis to relax and unwind. The modern facilities include showers and toilets, a laundry and washing up area.

Loads of walks available directly from the site. Ideal for us with a large active dog. If you are willing to walk reasonable distances, it is easy to get to Haltwhistle town and visit other villages with nice pubs. Dog walk on-site is the best we've seen so far at any site. Setting is great, on the boundaries of a national trust estate, lots of trees, riverside walks etc. Relaxing and well worth visiting.

A Very nice small site with helpful and friendly staff - good facilities matching those on bigger sites. Good base for visiting Harrison's Wall. Nice walks from site - including to friendly local pub. About an hours walk to Haltwhistle - through fields and along ridge or following river.

The staff are all very friendly and welcoming! Plus they don't take no nonsense from those who think rules don't apply to them! They dealt with a difficult situation quietly and calmly and the culprits were made to leave! Well done guys! The site is very clean and well cared for and we were really impressed that after over 48hrs of rain the ground sheet wasn't floating as the water just soaked away! There's a lovely dog walking area where you can let your dog off the lead. Showers toilet's are modern and clean.

It is sheltered on all sides by trees leaving the camping area open to the sun.

It is sheltered on all sides by trees leaving the camping area open to the sun. It has the usual selection of grass and hard standings with or without power and is altogether a well-presented site. The washrooms and toilets are spotlessly clean, the showers are the best we have had on a club site. When it comes to chemical disposal this one is the Rolls Royce. As you open the door the light comes on and the first thing you see is a hand basin with hot and cold water complete with hand dryer. Then there is all the usual emptying set up. There is an adequately stocked shop and the site is manned by friendly and efficient wardens who made us very welcome. Disappointingly the Wi-fi is flaky and could do with better coverage throughout the site.
