Pitch in a lovely clearing in the forests of Northumberland in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and European Geopark.

Haltwhistle Club campsite’s setting in a clearing in Bellister Wood makes it the ideal get-away-from-it-all camping destination. The wood, once part of the Bellister Castle Estate, is now managed by the National Trust and is a haven for wildlife and you could find yourself sharing your pitch with rabbits and birds, including woodpeckers.

This 50 pitch site betwixt the Northumberland National Park and North Pennines is surrounded by magnificent walking and cycling country. The Haltwhistle Rings – a series of 22 local walks is one way to take in the local scenery. Hadrian’s Wall, five miles from the campsite, offers walking opportunities along with Kielder Water and Forest Park which has a 27-mile track around the shore of the lake. Water sport lovers can sail, canoe and water ski here too.

Back at Haltwhistle campsite, the adjacent River Tyne provides fishing for those with the appropriate rod licence.

After a day cycling or walking or enjoying some of the area’s many attractions our secluded campsite among the trees is a peaceful oasis to relax and unwind. The modern facilities include showers and toilets, a laundry and washing up area. If you need to re-fuel, the Wallace Arms is in walking distance.

Had a lovely weekend at this site.

Had a lovely weekend at this site. Wardens friendly and very accommodating of our request to be pitched near friends (17 of us in total). Brilliant place for kids to explore woods, they all had a fantastic time. Will definitely go back to this site.

The site has improved considerably since out last visit about 4 years ago. Its a nice secluded small site but if you are cycling its uphill and the site roads are not well surfaced. Friendly reception

Found the campsite to be pleasant in a nice setting but unfortunately being on the edge of a river the land is quite boggy especially after all the recent rain but I suppose that's to be expected. The shower block was big enough for the site but a bit dated and not the best of aromas when entering the gents ( the public loos in Carlisle smelt fresher) not the most welcoming of staff on site even when putting on my most chatty of heads I couldn't raise nothing but a grunt. All in all not the best site on the CCC list but theres many more yet to be discovered ( visited 5 areas and 5 sites over the last few weeks of being a member and found all bar the last to be fantastic with great hosts).
