There was no one to greet us on the site, and another camper told us to go where we wanted. We had booked for 7 nights, but left after 3 and in that time the owners never appeared to introduce themselves, because I would of liked to complain to them personally. There is only one female toilet which is also the shower. We stayed 3 nights and it was not cleaned properly while we were there, expect the floor was moped with dirty water once by someone who turned up in the evening of the last night we stayed. There was only one mop and bucket for male and female toilet and the laundry room. The general refuse bin was overflowing when we arrived even though the site had only 5 spaces filled, but we were disgusted when someone who appeared to live or work at the storage facility next to the site emptied a third of the contents and proceeded to burn the waste on the hardstanding near the site entrance. The standard of this site has obviously gone down hill since the reviews from last year. The facilities for a site that has 28 electric points are seriously insufficient for the prices charged.

Found this site when cycling in the lanes around the site last year.So glad we decided to give it a go in February! Fantastic open views of countryside by day, star gazing at night. We cycle every where, there is a bus service at the end of the lane, turn right from the site. The nearest pub is approx. 2.5-3 miles away, turn left from the site, (closed Mon/Tues). There are separate mens/ladies shower/toilet which may be inconvenient if site busy as shower/toilet in same room. Eric came round to check we ok and locals friendly. A stay here can be as relaxing or active as you like, plenty of lanes for walking or cycling. Or just chill and take in the views and quiet. Looking forward to next stay asap!

The standards at this site are very high. Eric comes round every day to check that everything is all right, and even sends someone else to do so when he is away. The site is very well laid out, it was lovely to have so many water points round the site, almost like having your own personal tap. The site was very well maintained, and the toilet /shower facilities were spotless. Easy access to/from the A1 so quick to get to Holy Island, Berwick, Bamburgh etc. Excellent meal at the Black Bull at Lowick. Two very minor issues; the toilet is in the same room as the shower which means you may need to wait for someone to finish their shower before you can use the toilet. I understand that more toilets may be built which will solve this problem. The site is also quite open so exposed to wind. We had to leave a day early as concerned about our tent during very strong gale strength winds. The motor caravan next to us also moved to a more sheltered position on the site to escape the very strong winds. Probably not a problem in 'normal' winds/weather. There were exceptionally strong winds the weekend we were there. We would be very happy to stay on this site again
