All that is good about Certificated Site camping.

This review is for Longbank Farm

All that is good about Certificated Site camping. If, like us, you are a fan of CS caravanning, this is a little gem. A true farm site, it is level with 2 hard standings. A very easy site to access along good but quiet roads. We would recommend (as does the site owner) approaching via Longhoughton from the north. The southern approach is fine but the northern approach is just that bit easier. Caroline was very helpful and friendly and provides an information hut like we've never seen before! Absolutely packed with information both locally and further afield. Highly recommended.

What a brilliant find and a refreshing change to the other large campsites in the area.

What a brilliant find and a refreshing change to the other large campsites in the area. Caroline was really friendly and welcoming and very relaxed. She tolerated our 2 wee girls pestering her to 'stroke the horses' with enormous patience and grace :) there's no shower here so we, having no shower in our caravan, couldn't really stay too long. However, the toilet was spotless, the information point was really helpful and if we'd had a shower we'd have stayed for a week! There's only room for 5 hook ups so this is the most tranquil of sites. Rolling countryside, beach close by (view of sea from the sight) and perfectly placed for the main towns and sights in Northumberland. It goes without saying we are planning the next trip to Longbank already. Loved it!!!!

Situated at the rear of farm buildings, the site is spacious, and the horses, sheep and geese in the surrounding fields keep you entertained. Caroline Chrisp will give you a warm friendly welcome. There's a toilet and information kiosk on site, though no shower if that's important to you. Otherwise, if you like peace and quiet, this would suit you. With views of the sea in distance, surrounded by fields, and the nearby towns within easy travelling distance include Alnwick, Amble, Warkworth, Seahouses and Alnmouth. Slightly further up the coast is Lindisfarne (Holy Island). A great location, we used it as a base for exploring.

This review is for Longbank Farm

The owner/manager, Caroline Chrisp, is very welcoming, helpful, and easily contactable by mobile. Access to the site is good, via a wide, flat concrete track from the road, running straight past a couple of barns to the original barn yard, entering at the lower right hand corner of the yard. The yard is the hard-standing area, covered in crushed dark grey/black stone. Behind to one's left on entering is the rear of various farm buildings. To the left, the black painted wall of a barn. To the right, a wide grass verge, which runs forward to the small grass area beyond. On said grass verge stands a wooden hut divided in two, which contains in one side the loo and washbasin with cold water tap; and in its other side, the excellent information booth. Ahead, through an open gateway flanked by original stone gate posts is the grassed area which slopes gently upwards. The site is totally open and exposed, with the sea visible in the distance. Two sides are enclosed by very low stone walls; the other two by higher rail fencing. In the surrounding paddocks, horses graze, and come up to the fence/walls occasionally. A small flock of geese is in residence and sometimes wanders through. The ground is clay and in some areas after heavy rain, kit risks sinkage and car wheels can spin. However, grass seems firmer on the side by the hut. Hook-up stanchions are on the hard-standing area. However it is possible to pitch on the grass and still hook-up over the low wall if wanted. The loo was always spotlessly clean; ditto the handbasin and hand towel. Plenty to see in the area.
