The owner/manager, Caroline Chrisp, is very welcoming, helpful, and easily contactable by mobile. Access to the site is good, via a wide, flat concrete track from the road, running straight past a couple of barns to the original barn yard, entering at the lower right hand corner of the yard. The yard is the hard-standing area, covered in crushed dark grey/black stone. Behind to one's left on entering is the rear of various farm buildings. To the left, the black painted wall of a barn. To the right, a wide grass verge, which runs forward to the small grass area beyond. On said grass verge stands a wooden hut divided in two, which contains in one side the loo and washbasin with cold water tap; and in its other side, the excellent information booth. Ahead, through an open gateway flanked by original stone gate posts is the grassed area which slopes gently upwards. The site is totally open and exposed, with the sea visible in the distance. Two sides are enclosed by very low stone walls; the other two by higher rail fencing. In the surrounding paddocks, horses graze, and come up to the fence/walls occasionally. A small flock of geese is in residence and sometimes wanders through. The ground is clay and in some areas after heavy rain, kit risks sinkage and car wheels can spin. However, grass seems firmer on the side by the hut. Hook-up stanchions are on the hard-standing area. However it is possible to pitch on the grass and still hook-up over the low wall if wanted. The loo was always spotlessly clean; ditto the handbasin and hand towel. Plenty to see in the area.

Excellent site to visit the surrounding areas of castles and attractions etc.

This review is for Longbank Farm

Excellent site to visit the surrounding areas of castles and attractions etc. 5 miles approx to Alnwick , approx 25 to bamburgh . Coastal route is very good, loads of stop off places. Nothing much in longhoughton , if you want a meal or a few pub drinks you have to drive really otherwise it's a very good walk and once you get a few hundred yards from the centre of any of the rural villages there are no footpaths. The site is very clean and tidy. Caroline looks after it very well. On arrival there is a note saying pitch anywhere available. The toilet block is a wooden garden shed but very nicely done. It's split in 2. One side is a toilet with sink, other is an information section. As mentioned by previous poster, the only gripe which we all found annoying was the light timer . You have to press a switch by the door for the lights, but after 30 seconds it turns off. You have to press it again. But if your sat on the throne and the light goes off you can't reach the switch without getting off. So basically your on and off. Needs setting to 2 mins. I nearly knocked a star off for the timer but haven't got the heart to do that over a timer, can't fault the site apart from that. You get a farm feel if you like that sort of thing. Geese are roaming around , horses are just over the fence. There is an RAF base few hundred metres away and I think it's the air rescue that flies over the site pretty regular and quite low sometimes. Kids loved it. Was some noise but it was mainly during the day. It was a like for us. Would visit again.

A lovely small peaceful campsite surrounded by fields with a view of the sea in the distance. Information hut had all that we needed to make the most of our few days, particularly the bus timetable! The bus stop is just a 10 minute walk from the site making coast walks both North and South from the site wonderful as we didn't have to walk back alongside country lanes. Toilet clean but be warned, you need to take a torch in with you, the time delay off switch is very short.

This is a lovely site in a beautiful location with a view of the sea.

This is a lovely site in a beautiful location with a view of the sea. The grass is level, well-drained and well cared-for. We were in a tent and as it is an open site without any shelter apart from a dry stone wall, we suffered a bit from the high winds for a couple of days. However, the easy access to beautiful sandy beaches, wonderful rolling countryside and the nearness to Alnwick (10 minute drive) with it's market-town attractions and Alnwick Garden, more than made up for the slight discomfort of the weather. The owners are delightful - friendly and welcoming. All in all, a very pleasant stay. We will definitely return.
