I have to say I feel some of the previous reviews of this site have been unduly harsh, granted if you are looking for Bowling green level marked out pitches, Savoy Hotel standard toilets and more rules and regulations than an Army boot camp, then perhaps you should look elsewhere .
However if you want a very friendly and relaxed riverside site with a farm shop and resident boaters to chat to and Alpaca's, chickens, ducks and swans to watch,
then this IS the place for you, this is the 3rd year running we have been here and will not hesitate to return. You will also be right next to Ditchford Lock on the River Nene.

Very Disappointed with this site. Very untidy site with appalling toilet/shower and the pitch was just levelled rubble.
The site is on the banks of a canal which is quite attractive and ideal for any water activities but there the positives end. We were directed to an area of levelled rubble at the side of the access road and at this point we should have turned around and left but we thought we could manage one night.
A CS Site is supposed to be "members only" but at no point were we asked for membership and when we offered it they didn't want to see it. Hook up and water supply were ok if a little far away behind another caravan but the wash room facilities were dreadful. Words cannot really describe what the shower room was like but suffice to say it was dirty with black mouldy walls. Thankfully we have our own facilities on board.
Areas of the land are very untidy with an overflowing rubbish skip in a corner of the site. The location is convenient for Rushden & Higham Ferrers which is the reason we were there.
This could an attractive site but the way it is run is simply not up to standard and desperately needs an inspection.
A Wonderfully peaceful site with some road noise that quietens in the evening a very scenic location. Every one on site was genuinely welcoming and very friendly through out my stay, suffice to say I have made some good friends there.
The site is in a great location right on the river Nene so care is required if children present.
There is also a canoe hiring business on site for trips along the Nene.
Good routes to larger towns and supermarkets is handy also. As is a caravan shop in Rushden that sells a good variety of equipment if required.
There is also a shop that sells the basics and fresh farm eggs including Goose and Turkey eggs which are delicious! also some great ice cream a strong recommendation for the toffee flavour!!!
The Showers and toilets are in a poor state of repair and are in need of some serious work to make good.
There is no dish washing facilities so own equipment will be essential!
The site is very basic and could use some TLC but for the tranquility and relaxation value they can be forgiven. :)
I will return to this site as it is a really nice place to be, but work does need to be done to the amenities to improve!

We arrived to a good welcome, but were surprised to see that most of the site was a marina with residential canalboats around the camping site preventing access to the water except for a small canoe portage staging and 20 metres of bank near the lock. The site also had piles of hardcore and a pile of burning rubbish. The toilets were in a poor state. One toilet door would not close, the floors were dirty and the bowls were stained and had not been properly cleaned for a while.
The shower tray was dirty and the hand basins too, with broken water heaters.
I do not think that my ears are particularly sensitive but the rumble of traffic on the nearby A45 was noticeable all night, so it is not a quiet site. It would be an excellent site for canoe campers travelling along the river, but there was little to be had in the shop.
