A very noisy site, pitches only max of 5 metres from busy train line. Due to noise and vibrations I had no sleep Friday night. Toilet, sink and shower all in one small prefab. Wanted the loo but somebody in shower( were in about 20mins) no other loo available. only 1 other van on certified part of site, but had 2 other large units on car park. Did not see owner at all. Lad came to collect money Sunday afternoon. Would not use this site again

This is a lovely site, it is peaceful once you get used to the trains (wasn't so busy over the weekend). The canal is peaceful with the barges drifting by. I didn't use any of the facilities but did meet Mr Collins Jr who was very polite and helpful. Not far from Northampton or Daventry, Would definately recommend.

Just back from a stay at this pleasant site.

This review is for Furnace Moorings

Just back from a stay at this pleasant site. Nice roomy pitches, never felt crowded, line of trees alongside pitches provided welcome shade as it was very hot. Severe thunderstorms with torrential rain and the site didn't flood at all. Toilet facilities are 1 cabin for all containing loo, basin with cold water and a good token operated shower at 1.50 for 7 minutes. Nothing posh but cleaned and maintained each morning by Roger (the friendly owner) who was often to be seen around keeping things ship shape. I only had to queue to use the facilities once. Site is located away from main roads and a busy canal runs alongside it as does the west coast mainline. I found after a bit I could filter out the train noise, apart from Saturday night when work on the line was done and I needed to use earplugs. My companion slept through the lot. Whilst there we visited Northampton which is really nice and has a good museum. There is a canal museum nearby and Bletchley Park is about 30 mins away. There is a late shop in the village, and if you are a lover of curios don't miss The Sun Inn. I expect to visit the site again in the future.

Roger works hard at keeping this site neat and tidy.

This review is for Furnace Moorings

Roger works hard at keeping this site neat and tidy. As the name suggests he runs a boat mooring site alongside the Grand Union Canal. It is perhaps indicative of the way that he runs the site that most of his moorers have been with him (and his father before him) for ten years or more. There is lovely 15 peg fishing pond. each peg has it own solid platform from which to fish. One of the moorers keeps some sheep in a field by the track in. There are miles of canal towpath to explore. The only downside is the railway right alongside the site. However the trains travel that fast that they're gone in a couple of seconds. At night the traffic is less and they don't disturb your sleep at all. One point about access. the logical way in is directly off the A5. However there is a 9'-6" high arched bridge to negotiate that way. We got under easily at 9'-3", but it is a point to consider. We will undoubtedly visit again and I have already recommended the site to another member. 10/night + metered EHU if you want it.
