    Top site for fishing

A rural campsite near the city of the Norfolk Broads.

A city campsite with a rural feel describes our Norwich Club campsite. It commands a beautiful spot next to a river with walks and fishing along the banks. Its back-to-nature feel is enhanced by a small holding with chickens and geese right next door.

It’s a fairly secluded and quiet campsite and well laid out with 50 grass pitches and well maintained facilities.

This campsite is in easy reach of the city of Norwich by bike, a lovely walk along the old railway line or by bus which stops a quarter of a mile from the site. Norwich is famed for its castle and cathedral and it has more medieval churches than any other city in Western Europe. Four large malls will satisfy the fussiest shopper and there are numerous places to eat and drink.

There are walking and cycling opportunities in Whitlingham Country Park, one-and-a-half miles from the campsite. And, as well as being a haven for wildlife, there’s also a watersports centre offering windsurfing, sailing and kayaking.

The Norfolk Broads, Britain’s largest protected wetland, is within easy reach of the campsite and is home to some of the country’s rarest plants and wildlife.

Worth Noting

Access to the riverbank for fishing during the fishing season (16 June to site closing date). Current Environment Agency rod licence is required before fishing can commence. The river can get very weedy in summer months. The site is close to the mainlin

Couple of bad points whilst they didn't affect me it could affect someone.

Couple of bad points whilst they didn't affect me it could affect someone. There are two entries under a railway line measuring 10'3" so if you have a tall Moterhome this could be a problem. The outher is there are two railway lines on both sides of the park far enough away not to bother me and never woke me in the mornings. If you have small kids there is a river that runs next to the dog walk so be carful. The toilet block was always clean and hot shower water with directional shower head. I never had to wait too long for the shower. Lovely dog walk for the first and last walk of the day with my pooch. Nice and pleasant wardens as a solo traveler they were very helpful. I went to a gig at the waterfront on the Sunday evning and that was very goo. Would recommend Twelve 12 Resturant and bar in the city for a meal with my dog as they were very helpful. I went in to the city a few times and even though I have a heart condition and it being uphill there was enough stops along the way to take a breather. I walked three ways in to the city one to the right of the site which takes you past the city hall and to the waterfront there are bars and a cinema there. Then I went to the left and went up the old railway line that has been converted to a cycle and pedestrian way with lighting that brings you to Sainsburys. The last way I walked was you go left then at the traffic lights go straight up the hill and that was the quickest that took you to the Center to the lovely market. Loved the City and the camp site was far enough away to give you the impression you were in the country. I even spent the day in Grate Yarmouth and California and was glad to get back to the site for a rest. I will be returning as there was still so much to see.

Whilst a relatively small site and fairly basic facilities we really enjoy coming back to camp at the Norwich site. The real pull is the easy walk into the city (around 30 mins) and part is along the old railway track. Once in the city there is great shops and restaurants as well as the chance to stroll around the city streets or take a walk along the riverside crossing the numerous bridges. Back on site there are just basic facilities but the Site Managers keep these immaculate and save using the caravan all the time. Further afield there are all the attractions of Norfolk and Suffolk with the added bonus of the Norfolk Broads. We will continue to come back!

Nice site. Ideal for visiting Norwich City. Site wardens couldn't be more helpful.

Nice site. Ideal for visiting Norwich City. Site wardens couldn't be more helpful. Shame about outdated shower block with no heating whatsoever. With one large disabled shower and only one other very small one does not make for a very pleasant experience and needs improving as soon as possible.
