Top site for fishing
A rural campsite near the city of the Norfolk Broads.
A city campsite with a rural feel describes our Norwich Club campsite. It commands a beautiful spot next to a river with walks and fishing along the banks. Its back-to-nature feel is enhanced by a small holding with chickens and geese right next door.
It’s a fairly secluded and quiet campsite and well laid out with 50 grass pitches and well maintained facilities.
This campsite is in easy reach of the city of Norwich by bike, a lovely walk along the old railway line or by bus which stops a quarter of a mile from the site. Norwich is famed for its castle and cathedral and it has more medieval churches than any other city in Western Europe. Four large malls will satisfy the fussiest shopper and there are numerous places to eat and drink.
There are walking and cycling opportunities in Whitlingham Country Park, one-and-a-half miles from the campsite. And, as well as being a haven for wildlife, there’s also a watersports centre offering windsurfing, sailing and kayaking.
The Norfolk Broads, Britain’s largest protected wetland, is within easy reach of the campsite and is home to some of the country’s rarest plants and wildlife.
Access to the riverbank for fishing during the fishing season (16 June to site closing date). Current Environment Agency rod licence is required before fishing can commence. The river can get very weedy in summer months. The site is close to the mainlin

This is a very pleasant site situated within easy reach to the beautiful city of Norwich. There are bus stops within easy reach . It does suffer from outdated toilet facilities which are adequate and clean. There are facilities for emptying foul waste but nothing for waste water from Motor Homes. The park is spacious and sheltered with lovely trees .The wardens are very helpful and always available.
We understand that the Club would like to upgrade the site and the amenities but are prevented by the Norwich Council and objections from some of the neighbors. We are looking forward to returning towards the end of this month.

As indicated this is an excellent site for visiting Norwich and the surrounding areas. As other reviewers have pointed out it is a fairly easy walk/cycle into town if you want or there is the pretty regular bus service a 5 to 10 minute walk away.
The site on the whole is clean and tidy especially the amenities block. Again people have previously pointed out that these are a bit dated and of the two showers in each facility one is very small. While this is true my own personal opinion is that on the whole all the positives about this site far outweigh this matter.
The wardens and assistant warden were great and couldn't do a better job in my opinion and they helped us greatly with a couple of minor problems we encountered during our stay.
I would say the only really negative issue regarding this site is no recycling facility and to ask people to cart the waste a few hundred yards down the road to the pub is not on.
I would just like to mention that the pub down the road (The Cock) is very good and serves very good meals at a reasonable cost. It has obviously had money spent upgrading it and also has a lovely beer garden and patio with colourful hanging baskets etc. It's a shame it isn't used more as the couple of times we called it was fairly empty. Given the efforts the new owner is making he deserves to succeed.
Anyway if we ever decide to revisit this area we will certainly use this site again.
