    Top site for beaches

Enjoy coast and countryside from this popular north Norfolk site near Cromer.

You can get a feel for the beautiful and varied Norfolk coast and countryside from our Club campsite at West Runton.

Our pretty and spacious campsite commands a secluded location close to the quaint seaside village with which it shares its name. Trees surround this beautifully maintained site. Facilities include roomy showers, a parent and child room, laundry and washing up area and a lovely dog walk.

Just a short walk from the campsite brings you to the quaint fishing village of West Runton. Its sandy beach is perfect for sunbathing while the plentiful rock pools are waiting to be explored.

For more sandy beaches, piers and promenades Sheringham, Cromer (both within walking distance of the campsite) and Caister-on-Sea tick the boxes.

A mile south of West Runton, Beacon Hill is the highest point in Norfolk. Scale the dizzy height of 300ft and you’ll be rewarded with views over the countryside and coast.

For nature lovers Blakeney Point is a must. This mix of dune, marsh and shingle is home to seals and a variety of birds. Catch a ferry from Mortson Quay to see them. There are more animals to be seen at the Hillside Shire Horse Sanctuary and the Norfolk Shire Horse Centre close to the campsite.

This site is a gem, gave 10/10 for space, toilets, shower facilities, cleanliness, friendliness and motorhome service point. However the access road is horrible, which lets it down a little bit and the shop is very poorly stocked, didn't even have bread or butter. Also the ( short walk to the beach is over a mile whichever direction you take) and not suitable if you have any walking disability, can be very muddy and overgrown with nettles etc.

We nearly rang before booking to enquire about the access road as we tow a trailer tent after reading other reviews, but on arrival it wasn't an issue. I agree that if 2 towing vehicles met, it could be a problem, but we arrived at 3.30 p.m. and left at 10 a.m, so it wasn't a problem for us. We stayed for 13 nights and left the campsite 6 or 7 times and only twice met a car coming the other way, and there are plenty of passing places. Although the campsite was nearly full most of the time we were there, it didn't feel noisy or overcrowded and there are plenty of showers so didn't have to queue. It was also completely quiet from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. and we were next to the playground. There are walks from all 4 corners of the campsite, in fact we have never stayed at a campsite with so many walks. We walked to Felbrigg Estate, Cromer, Sheringham and a favourite was 25 minutes onto the beach at West Runton, 30 minutes along the beach to East Runton and then 25 minutes back to the campsite. We bought a OS map after the first day, as there are so many footpaths, it was easy to get lost. The views from Incleborough Hill at the top of the campsite were spectacular and it is worth going up late to see the sunset over Sheringham.
