Overview

You will find a real taste of the Scottish Highlands in this area of castles, distilleries and beautiful scenery.

Walks, wildlife and whisky are all in abundance in the area surrounding our beautiful Speyside Club campsite. The campsite enjoys a rural position between the fabulous Moray coast and the Cairngorms Mountain range. Set on a gentle south-facing slope and surrounded by trees, Speyside campsite will appeal to those looking for a peaceful and relaxing base for their exploration of the area.

Views extend over the surrounding countryside and trees and hedges dot the site giving some areas a more secluded feel. Facilities include a laundry, children’s play area and a dog walk.

If you enjoy a wee dram of Scotland’s famous tipple, you’re in luck. The area surrounding the campsite boasts some 50 whisky distilleries, including the world-famous Macallan Distillery. Most offer tours and there are whisky festivals in May and September.

For walkers, the 84-mile Speyside Way connects the moray coast with the Grampian mountains and passes close to the campsite.

As well as being handy for the coast of Moray Firth, Elgin, Buckie, Forres, Nairn, Fochabers and Spey bay are all within easy reach. At Spey Bay you’ll find the Scottish Dolphin Centre where you can enjoy dolphin spotting or take a walk along the mouth of the River Spey.

Eat Local

There are good local butchers shops in both Rothes and Aberlour and many restaurants which support local producers, including Fresh at Aberlour, The Bistro in Archiestown Hotel. Simpsons Bakery and Coffee Shop in Rothes.

Site staff are welcoming and the site is well kept.

Site staff are welcoming and the site is well kept. This is wonderful walking and touring country and a must for Whisky fans as you are within sight of The Macallan and within 20 minutes of all the major Speysides. To add to all this, the beaches of Moray are just 40 minutes away and no parking-up on sites next to busy roads unlike Nairn. All round perfect site.

This review is for Speyside by Craigellachie

Tried to book on website for 1 night for hardstanding with electric. Came up repeatedly as only grass with no electric available. Changed search to 2 nights. Oddly , that was available so we changed our plans. However, the site was empty, 3 vans in total, so no idea why I couldn't book for 1 night. I see a previous reviewer had similar problem. Site was ok, served the purpose in an area that doesn't have lots of alternatives. Only saw site warden once briefly on arrival. Going on walks from the site requires walking on roads. Traffic light, but some very large agricultural and whisky industry vehicles. Nice footpath down to Aberlour, signposted if you walk along road towards Archiestown. Only one shower in operation, had to wait in a queue as it was in use. As said previouly, it served the purpose, but not one of my favourites.

Being a disabled person I always look for sites with dedicated disabled facilities, which can vary from site to site but on this site they were really good, it was warm and there was wall seat and a bench seat which was great. The site was very clean and tidy with hanging baskets around making it more attractive. The warden was friendly and helpful. It's a perfect site if your looking for a peaceful getaway, but it's not too far away from places if you want to do activities. If you love whiskey then you will be in the ideal place as there are distilleries in abundance. Also the Speyside Cooperage is a must to visit to see how the barrels are made. They also have a lovely shop and cafe. You are also not far from the coast and the Spey Bay Dolphin centre is a lovely place to visit which also has a good cafe and gift shop. It's not too far to visit the Cairngorm mountain and Aviemore. I highly recommend this site to anyone wanting to visit this part of Scotland.
