Overview

You will find a real taste of the Scottish Highlands in this area of castles, distilleries and beautiful scenery.

Walks, wildlife and whisky are all in abundance in the area surrounding our beautiful Speyside Club campsite. The campsite enjoys a rural position between the fabulous Moray coast and the Cairngorms Mountain range. Set on a gentle south-facing slope and surrounded by trees, Speyside campsite will appeal to those looking for a peaceful and relaxing base for their exploration of the area.

Views extend over the surrounding countryside and trees and hedges dot the site giving some areas a more secluded feel. Facilities include a laundry, children’s play area and a dog walk.

If you enjoy a wee dram of Scotland’s famous tipple, you’re in luck. The area surrounding the campsite boasts some 50 whisky distilleries, including the world-famous Macallan Distillery. Most offer tours and there are whisky festivals in May and September.

For walkers, the 84-mile Speyside Way connects the moray coast with the Grampian mountains and passes close to the campsite.

As well as being handy for the coast of Moray Firth, Elgin, Buckie, Forres, Nairn, Fochabers and Spey bay are all within easy reach. At Spey Bay you’ll find the Scottish Dolphin Centre where you can enjoy dolphin spotting or take a walk along the mouth of the River Spey.

Eat Local

There are good local butchers shops in both Rothes and Aberlour and many restaurants which support local producers, including Fresh at Aberlour, The Bistro in Archiestown Hotel. Simpsons Bakery and Coffee Shop in Rothes.

Welcome from wardens was excellent and very accomodating in locating close to facilities. Even during the torrential downpour last week, the site was wet but completely useable even when all the area around had flooded!! This was our second visit this year and we will be back in September - there are still many attractions and distilleries yet to be visited!

We arrived in mid July and surprised to find the site quiet. Warm welcome from the Site Managers. The site in a great location, close to the Whisky Trail, Strathspey, hills, mountains and the lovely coastal villages. The site environment is most pleasant with signs of improvements in hard standing etc. The toilet block is a little tired but it would not take much for the Club to improve it. The toilet block and facilities are spotless - a credit to the Managers. The site did get busier but never felt crowded. We were lucky with the weather hot and sunny but there is quite a lot to do in the area if it turned wet. A fish and chip van turned out on Thursdays - a nice change. Brown's the Burchers and the Speyside Larder in Aberlour are recommended. Overall, a great stay and we will be back!
