We spent a few nights at Longfold Farm in August 2017.

This review is for Longfold Farm

We spent a few nights at Longfold Farm in August 2017. When we arrived we were advised to pick a pitch by a man who we learned later was residential there (he lived in a static caravan on the site, alongside the touring campers and caravanners). So, we pitched up. The site was fairly level but rutted in places so our inflatable awning ended up lodged in one or more grooves, The site facilities were basic and generally clean - other campers need to learn to clean up after themselves sometimes, but saying that the dish-wash sink-unit needed adjusting to allow better drainage, and the spiders webs could have been removed. The toilet and shower are in the same room. The owners are nice enough, but the problem lay in the dogs. We couldn't determine whether the dogs belonged to the man in the static, or the owners or between them. The man in the static fed and encouraged the dogs and they would wander around freely. Now, we understand that campers can bring their own dogs but they should be supervised and kept under control. So, it became a real annoyance when the Longfold dogs simply wandered around freely. When the caravan next to us moved off, one of these dogs defecated on the pitch. I shooed the dog away and it reacted viciously. A day later, we awoke to find a huge pile of doo right next to our tent. We spoke with the owners about it; they told us that they don't normally let the dogs out but the children are on holiday (or other some such). But, the dogs were OUT all the time. Would we go again? Yes, but only if there was a notification that the site dogs were going to be kept under strict control.

We love staying at this gem of a site This is a fabulous site run by Tammy and Andrew who are great hosts. They always give you a warm welcome and nothing is too much trouble. The site is next to the paddock and the horses are very pleasing to watch! There is plenty to do including lovely walks directly from the site. We have recently purchased bikes and Andrew gave us directions to great cycle paths and quiet lanes. The village of Croston is well worth a visit with several pubs and coffee shops as well as a small supermarket. Southport is just a short drive away. The site itself is very quiet even when busy and is just the best for a relaxing break. On our last visit we were watching hares in the field and one evening four hot air balloons flew over and where very close. Great to see! All in all a gem of a site. Already looking forward to our next visit

This was our 1st visit to this site & we would definitely go again.

This was our 1st visit to this site & we would definitely go again. The site is in a paddock partly sheltered from the rest of the farm. Although there was only 1 toilet & shower room it was spotlessly clean. The only downside was having to wait while people took lengthy showers. Another toilet would be great. In the meantime could I suggest a chair(plastic 1 would do) to help people with mobility problems when getting showered/dressed, & maybe a mirror. I would recommend this site to my family & friends, and look forward to our next visit.

We had booked a 2 night stay at the nearby Leisure lakes ( I wouldn't bother looking If I was you ... It was awful) we stayed for 10 minutes then asked for our money back and left ! I contacted Longfold Farm having read the great reviews. We wasn't let down. As we arrived we was approached by the owner. We asked if he had a taxi number to take us to the nearest pub for some dinner as we had come straight from the school pick up. He offered to take us but we said it was ok as we didn't want to put him out. We set up and next minute his wife Tammy pulled up in her car stating she would take us. She drove us to the Blue Anchor pub (about 1/2 mile away which served lovely food -all you could eat for 4.99) Tammy told us to ring her when we wanted picking up. She kindly picked us up a couple of hours later. Very kind of her. Sadly it rained most of Saturday but we still had a stroll into a village called Croston. Had to walk on the road a lot of the way as no pavement. (Not good with children). Not much there. Again ended up in a pub called The Crown Hotel which was nice. All in all a lovely stay with friendly owners. Would definitely recommend.
