Lovely peaceful site with oak trees and a view.

This review is for The Gate Lodge

Lovely peaceful site with oak trees and a view. We stayed three nights for Tenterden Folk Festival. The situation is convenient, just a 2 mile cycle ride from the town centre. It's down a lovely wooded road, and the site is scattered with oak trees. A lovely informal site. There is a good view to the South - the photos give a very accurate impression of the site. We certainly hope to return. Richard gave us useful advice to take Heather Drive into Swain Road as it is the better route for towing.

A little piece of heaven with much wildlife but no sign of the owner...

This review is for The Gate Lodge

A little piece of heaven with much wildlife but no sign of the owner...ever! This campsite is wonderful! It is quiet and secluded, with a lovely woodland walk for the dogs (on a lead at all times as per the notices) loads of wildlife and a lake with carp to feed. We started booking up for four days but stayed longer as it was so peaceful. However, we never saw the owners, which proved a real problem on our last night when four units arrived with 6 boisterous dogs which they let run free for over 2 hours. As the group was quite large and loud we felt intimidated and unable to ask for them to abide by the rules. We wish the owner had been around! It totally spoiled our last night as there were very large and clear signs about keeping dogs on leads, even quoting CCC rule 33, which this group ignored completely. That said, we will return as it is one of the loveliest sites we have been to, with immaculately clean facilities and plenty of space between units.

A lovely peaceful site and dog friendly, a wooded walk with bins.

A lovely peaceful site and dog friendly, a wooded walk with bins. We have stayed here several times and have always had a pleasant stay. Richard and Penny are friendly and helpful owners. Toilets and showers are clean. The site has wonderful large trees and the woods on the site have a lovely walk around the pond, which is full of carp, (fishing not allowed) who enjoy your leftover bread. Thanks to you both for another wonderful stay.

Nice site fairly close to amenities and Pubs etc,. Unfussy but with all you need.

Nice site fairly close to amenities and Pubs etc,. Unfussy but with all you need. We stayed in our small teardrop trailer in the 'wild camping' area, one of 6 pitches available but they are not really suitable for a big towed van and have no hook up. We had only planned to stay for 4 nights but found it so homely we stayed for longer. The owners have a strict no children policy and dogs must always be on the lead, both big pluses for us. We hope to visit again, lovely part of the world.
