Overview

This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operates under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.
Whilst the majority of Certificated Sites do permit children, please be aware that this site has chosen to be Adults Only.

This rural quiet adults-only site has beautiful views across the valley with a walk to picturesque Tenterden known as The Jewel of the Weald with the KESR steam railway. Village of St. Michaels is one mile away and the historic town of Rye is eleven. Lake onsite with carp you can feed, and a woodland walk for dogs on leads or Forestry Commission woodland 0.5 mile away. There are 11 hook-ups, 9 hardstands with roads, and camping in our rustic woodland pitches and field. Toilets and showers onsite. WE DO TAKE ALL MOTORHOMES & RVS. Visit Bodiam, Leeds and Hever Castles, Sissinghurst, Great Dixter and Batemans Gardens, Historic Sandwich, Canterbury Cathedral, Battle and Hastings plus The Romney Hythe and Dymchurch miniature railway. Our site is only 45 minutes from Eurotunnel and Dover. Known for the various birds that inhabit our wolds, including Nightingales, Woodpeckers, Tree Creepers, Finches etc. Dungeness and Rye Harbour nature reserves are often visited.

This is a really lovely site - there is an interesting woodland walk and it's good to be able to feed the carp - and it's a bit different, having "rooms" for The facilities aren't luxury but perfectly adequate. Richard is a lovely guy who made us feel very welcome

Lovely peaceful site with wooded walk.

This review is for The Gate Lodge

Lovely peaceful site with wooded walk. Site owner not around much, but was very pleasant when spoken to, as well as on the phone. Very trusting with payments made via a letterbox. We were not really sure whether we were classed as a van with hook up, or a tent so paid for van anyway. Not a big problem! Beautiful site with some lovely secluded areas for wild camping as well as pitches providing EHU. Short walk into St Michaels where there is a convenience shop and two take-aways. Loved the wooded walk ( and so did the dog!) as it felt as though you were miles from anywhere. Not too far from us, so we will be visiting again sometime.

An idyllic rural woodland site of considerable charm which has not been manicured into loss of character. Close to Tenterden, The Weald, Romney Marsh and many other attractive places in very peaceful Kentish countryside. Cannot comment on friendliness as we did not see the owners during our four night stay, but were able to find our way around the site anyway. The signs, tracks and toilet block could do with some attention (not manicuring please), but this would not deter us from using the site again. The recycling containers were in urgent need of emptying when we were there.

Lovely site, exactly what a CS should be.

Lovely site, exactly what a CS should be. Very friendly welcome from the owner and, as is usual with CS sites, the other campers were friendly. Nice clean facilities. A very rural site but not too far from town. The location is excellent for Kent/E Sussex. The coastal area is great with a wide variety of resorts and types of landscape. Definitely one of the best - watch out for the killer carp in the lake!
