Camp at our secluded site in Kent, the Garden of England.
Our Oldbury Hill Club campsite is located in an idyllic spot within Styants Wood, opposite the Iron Age fort of the same name in Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The area is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest. It is a lovely open, all grass campsite. Pitches are sloping so chocks will be required.
The area is ideal for walkers. Two way-marked circular walks pass over Oldbury Camp, the large Iron Age Hill fort. The hill is now covered with woodland managed by the National Trust. You can also walk from the campsite to Ightham Mote, a medieval moated manor house with a 14-acre garden and restaurant.
It’s a short car journey to Knole, a National Trust run English country house set in a deer park; Penshurst Palace and Gardens; the National Trust run Chartwell, family home of Winston Churchill; the beautiful Emmetts Garden and Hever Castle and Gardens.
You can also visit London by train from Borough Green and Sevenoaks stations.

Walks from the site, Plenty more, plus NT and English Heritage sites nearby. Yes, it does slope but we didn't need chocks and the assistant manager who welcomed us could not have been more helpful in selecting a suitable spot. Very secluded and peaceful - ideal for couples looking for a quiet site. Probably not great if you have energetic small children or teens who want to let off steam. Four star facilities only because we felt what's available might be stretched if the site is full of folks like us who don't have their own showers and toilets - spotlessly clean and no problem the other night when the site was about half full. Plenty of lovely hot water!! We may be back!

Although the facilities were nice and clean etc. the site was on a rather steep slope and even on our blocks we were not able to level up. Unfortunately this was made worse by the very strict attitude of the manager who insisted that we could only park facing in one direction and were 'lined up' with other vehicles. Consequently we couldn't even turn the van so our head was higher than our feet which made for 2 very uncomfortable nights.
This would all have been more understandable if the site was full, but it was not - especially on the Sunday night.
We would have left after one night but as we had paid in advance did not want to waste the money.
