    Top site for beaches

Cliff-top site popular with birdwatchers, sea anglers and Channel hoppers.

Our Folkestone Club campsite is ideally located whether you’re holidaying in Kent or taking a day trip to France by Channel Tunnel. The campsite enjoys a dramatic cliff-top position with stunning views of the sea and the chalky cliffs of the Dover-Folkestone Heritage Coast.

The campsite is surrounded by the trees and shrubbery of The Warren, a local Nature Reserve and a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Nature trails weave their way through The Warren, an important habitat for many rare plants and animals. Guided walks run from April through until September.

This peaceful campsite is well laid out with a mix of grass and hardstand pitches. The excellent facilities include a parent and child room with a baby bath, shower, and a highchair with harness.

Walkers and dog owners will enjoy the walks from the campsite along the cliffs and beach. You can walk into Folkestone and Dover using the footpath from the site too.

Folkestone has a cobbled High Street, harbour, promenade and a sandy beach next to the harbour. Dover, with its world-famous white cliffs, has an interesting castle.

South of the campsite is the seaside resort of Hythe, while Romney Marsh boasts three of the finest family-friendly sandy beaches in Kent – Dymchurch, Greatstone, and St Mary’s Bay. The shingle beach at Dungeness is backed by an RSPB Nature Reserve visitor centre and the area is brimming with plant and wildlife.

Access and SatNav Advice

Please note that this site is not suitable if you need to leave for an early ferry, as the site gate does not open until 7am, and there is no parking outside the site. No touring caravans on this site. Long narrow access road to site.

Worth Noting

Sea Fishing from beach. The site overlooks a great shingle beach – the kids will love it. The site is the ideal location for bird watching and walking.

WiFi

100% coverage cannot be guaranteed due to rural location, weather conditions and changing flora. These can cause variable signal strength. Hotspots are available. Prices.

Eat Local

There are several stalls selling fresh fish in Folkestone. Hythe has good greengrocer shops and fishmongers, all selling local produce. A Farmers’ Market is held at Capel-le-Ferne.

Access by single track road, passing places blocked by illegal parking, had to reverse a fair way on arrival. Push button showers only last seconds. No mobile signal and expensive wifi (£3/24 hours) logs you out every time your phone goes to sleep. Only two loos and showers in each of the two blocks, a few hundred yards apart so a bit of a lottery which to chance, and one or the other will be closed for cleaning for an hour or so each day. Adjacent to beach but no ball games on site so not ideal for children. Despite all this we like the site, this was our second visit.

Perfect for a short stay en route to continent, wonderfully tranquile, sea views, and beautifully kept by the wardens who are very friendly. This would also make a great base for visiting the area, for such places as the White Cliffs, Dover Castle and the cinque ports. We will return!

The staff are very helpful and offer excellent service. Very good ambassadors for the Camping and Caravan club. Access is a bit hairy and you need to go slow, but the site is magnificent if you like the coast and nature. No pub or club or playground but a small shop and the beach. Excellent walking but very up and down. Site is beautifully kept and well manicured so if you are no too mobile it is a pleasure just to sit and watch the world go round. There are local shops a 4 minute drive, within 10 mins there are supermarkets, the town centre and an excellent fish and chip shop Papas. Road access to Dover and other localities also within 10 mins. Beware, this is a small site and they are booked well in advance. We will be going back again.
