Overview

A great campsite to explore Canterbury, with a bus stop outside the site entrance.

City, coast and countryside – you can take your pick if you’re basing yourself at our Canterbury Club campsite. Although a popular stopover for those travelling to or from France, this campsite offers the ideal base for exploring Kent’s coast and country.

The campsite lies a couple of miles south of the city – within walking distance. The not so energetic can catch a bus from outside the campsite. The well laid out campsite offers a mix of level grass and hardstand pitches. There are newly refurbished toilet and shower facilities, a washing up area, children’s play area and good dog walking.

Off site Canterbury is a city packed with history, heritage and culture. It has a stunning cathedral and the ruins of St Augustine’s Abbey and St Martin’s Church and castle. It also has an eclectic mix of specialist shops, independent retailers, bars and restaurants.

Head to the coast for Whitstable with its trendy harbour and July Oyster Festival. The more traditional Herne-Bay has two miles of seafront adorned with colourful beach huts and a pier. The quaint Victorian town of Broadstairs with its Punch and Judy shows and donkey rides is a contrast to the more cosmopolitan habour side Ramsgate noted for its pavement cafes and waterside bars.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

First experience of a camping and caravaning club site.

This review is for Canterbury

First experience of a camping and caravaning club site. Upon arrival we were shown to our pitch which was ideal, unfortunately it did not last long as the following day approx 150 foreign students arrived. Within hours of there arrival there was arguments going on with them and fellow campers due to them been unsupervised, dishes washed in toilets, waste food emptied in toilet bin, dish wash area left filthy, toilets used as playground, cutting through pitches and general noise. It all came to a head the following morning when 2 caravaners moved pitches due to the noise at 6am and we soon followed them. After complaints to the wardens all that everyone got told was that they come every year. It would of been nice to be pre warned that they were arriving. The general feeling around the site is that more bins are required as there is 1 bin located at the gate. Had a good week until the last day when the 66 plate hymer motorhome next to us decided to throw the waste water behind the vehicles, when confronted the owner of the motorhome became very sarcastic as he knew he had done wrong, he then went Into little man syndrome and called my wife a little bas____, at this point he was lucky to still be standing due to his ways. The rest of the weekend he would not show his face and sat in his motorhome with all curtains closed. Luckily the incident was also witnessed by fellow campers who were also disgusted by his ways. After speaking to the wardens again all we got told was he comes most weekends We now get the feeling that we have waisted £38 membership as all our years with the caravan club we have never experienced such behaviour

Beautiful campsite, lovely location not to far from the main road but tranquil.

Beautiful campsite, lovely location not to far from the main road but tranquil. Setting was great. erected a tent gazebo and porch and parked our vehicle within our boundaries. distance between our pitch and the next ideal. Our pitch was near the entrance/exit behind a bush which provided shelter, and well situated for ease of access to facilities and water. We had such a lovely break and we were blessed with lovely weather. The noise from the families filtered through but not enough to disturb us. We would go back and we definitely would recommend this site.

When we arrived and checked in at reception we were greeted by very friendly staff of which were very helpful and we were given a choice of where we wanted to be on the site. we were shown to our pitch by Adrian who was very helpful & informative. The facilities on site are modern & very clean & well kept. There was a pizza van which came on Saturday night & again on monday night . this is very popular and very busy. The pizza van is there between 5pm - 8pm and is reasonably priced. We would definitely go back to this site again. The site is a 20 min walk away{at normal pace} from Canterbury where you will find some nice shops and restaurant's & there are bus stops just outside the entrance of the site. The bus service runs all week, Sunday service is hourly. We would highly recommend this to others.

Pitches are close together and with vans, awnings and cars they get very close to each other.

Pitches are close together and with vans, awnings and cars they get very close to each other. Too few showers so sometimes have to queue in the morning. Due to heavy use toilet blocks are grubby by the morning. Fairly spotless in afternoon, maybe need a second clean in evening in peak season.
