Overview

A great campsite to explore Canterbury, with a bus stop outside the site entrance.

City, coast and countryside – you can take your pick if you’re basing yourself at our Canterbury Club campsite. Although a popular stopover for those travelling to or from France, this campsite offers the ideal base for exploring Kent’s coast and country.

The campsite lies a couple of miles south of the city – within walking distance (or hire a bike on site). The not so energetic can catch a bus from outside the campsite. The well laid out campsite offers a mix of level grass and hardstand pitches. There are newly refurbished toilet and shower facilities, a washing up area, children’s play area and good dog walking.

Off site Canterbury is a city packed with history, heritage and culture. It has a stunning cathedral and the ruins of St Augustine’s Abbey and St Martin’s Church and castle. It also has an eclectic mix of specialist shops, independent retailers, bars and restaurants.

Head to the coast for Whitstable with its trendy harbour and July Oyster Festival. The more traditional Herne-Bay has two miles of seafront adorned with colourful beach huts and a pier. The quaint Victorian town of Broadstairs with its Punch and Judy shows and donkey rides is a contrast to the more cosmopolitan habour side Ramsgate noted for its pavement cafes and waterside bars.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite.

Within easy reach of Canterbury by bus or bike.

This review is for Canterbury

Within easy reach of Canterbury by bus or bike. Buses were a little hit and miss on the days we used them. Two shower blocks very clean and good to see the actual shower head has been positioned centrally in the cubicle and the pipe work unexposed. Would have liked a few bins positioned around the site and extra lighting. However, a great site and worth visiting. Book early though!

After we pitched I connected the electric.

After we pitched I connected the electric. In the van I noticed that we were not up to full power. I checked everything I could but could find no fault. I went to the office to enquire if I could get somebody in to look at it. The manager/assistant manager (not sure which one) was very helpful and came to look to see if he could check if the electric was ok. After a while he discovered that something I switched on had tripped the switch on the main post. He switched them all on and everything went well until we left. If he had not been so helpful, it would have probably cost me money to find the fault. Nothing was too much bother for any of the staff. This is what you come to expect from the club.

Shower blocks are very clean and bright. The site is a lovely well maintained quiet site. The bus stop outside is so handy. Buses run every 20 mins into Canterbury which has a large bus station, with buses serving all of the Thanet area. We encountered a problem with our electrics one night and the warden came to help us straight away. We would highly recommend this site to anyone.

We stayed primarily to visit Canterbury and we made good use of the convenient and frequent bus service. The cathedral and the Eastbridge Hospital well worth a visit. Nice shops and a good range of restaurants. The bike routes out of Canterbury looked interesting and we'll do them if we return but it's a shame that the short but busy road into Canterbury isn't more bike friendly.
