Camping on the Isle of Wight – perfect for relaxing on this tiny island, just a short ferry trip from the England’s south coast.

You’ll find our Adgestone Club campsite in a quiet countryside setting on the beautiful Isle of Wight close to the popular Sandown resort.

Although a large site – 270 pitches – the site is very well laid out with some secluded pitches and is orientated towards families. Adgestone is the only Club Site with a swimming pool (which will be open and heated from June 1st until the first week in September) and a children’s paddling pool. In addition to the usual toilet/shower facilities, the site also boasts two children’s play areas – one for younger campers and another more extensive area for older children as well as table tennis, boules, outdoor chess and giant jenga. There’s also a shop and takeaway on site and a private fishing pool stocked with carp.

There numerous walking and cycling opportunities from the campsite. Beach lovers are spoilt for choice with the seaside resorts of Sandown, Shanklin, Ventnor, Cowes and Ryde all close by. For days out Dinosaur Isle, Shanklin Chine, the Needles and Blackgang Chine shouldn’t be missed.

Adgestone Vineyard, overlooking Brading Down – itself worth exploring for its spectacular views across Culver Down and Sandown Bay - offers tours of its wine cellars and tastings. Its café serves excellent cream teas too.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Wightlink Ferries offer great discounts to all Club members. There are also discounts available to non-members when booking a stay at our Adgestone campsite

As mentioned above the site was delightful with lovely walks in the area. The dog walk was along a river on site and was really pleasant. We enjoyed the lake where the Canada Geese were 'looking after' their babies!! Unfortunately although the facilities were extremely clean they were truly outdated. We have been to various sites in the Camping and Caravanning Club and most of them have up to date facilities. As we were camping we needed to use the toilets and showers and were fully aware that they were outdated. However the staff did maintain them and kept them really clean. There was a shop in site the staff of whom were really friendly but the shop was really understocked. The caf was mostly not open for lunch which was disappointing for us as we would have used it more had it been opened. With regard to access to the site although the guide states 'Do not rely on Satnav' it would be helpful for those towing to be shown an illustration of the best way to the site as a lot of the roads leading to the site are very narrow. We spoke to many caravanners who had had difficulty in accessing the site. However with all our grievances we had a lovely holiday in spite of the horrendous thunder storm which we experienced and hopefully we will return to this site in the future.

I have recently returned from a short stay here and what a pleasure it was to be in such a relaxing environment. The site is very well maintained and complimented with wonderful displays of flowers and and plants. The friendly and helpful wardens and assistants carried out their duties in an efficient and professional manner and are a credit to the C&CC. The site is situated in a quiet and rural location although only a 15 minute drive to the coastal resort of Sandown it is also ideally placed for touring the whole island. I look forward to a return visit in the future.

We love this site and the Site Managers and team are very welcoming, supportive and go out of their way to make your stay memorable. There are many walks in the area from the site and if you wish to venture further the Island offers lots of interesting things to do whether it is walking, cycling, visiting attractions, etc. This visit we discovered Newtown Nature Reserve and Firestone Copse near Fishbourne - both worth a visit. There are plenty of restaurants in the area with supermarkets at Sandown - Morrisons and Tesco Extra at Ryde. The cafe at the Garden Centre near Sandown is well worth a visit (very reasonable prices), and the family owned inns - Bugle Inn, Brading and Buddle Inn, Niton. In both places our dog was made to feel welcome. We look forward to returning to the Island and the site.
