Camping on the Isle of Wight – perfect for relaxing on this tiny island, just a short ferry trip from the England’s south coast.

You’ll find our Adgestone Club campsite in a quiet countryside setting on the beautiful Isle of Wight close to the popular Sandown resort.

Although a large site – 270 pitches – the site is very well laid out with some secluded pitches and is orientated towards families. Adgestone is the only Club Site with a swimming pool which is heated from June until the first week of September and a children’s paddling pool. In addition to the usual toilet/shower facilities, the site also boasts two children’s play areas – one for younger campers and another more extensive area for older children as well as table tennis, boules, outdoor chess and giant jenga. There’s also a shop and takeaway on site and a private fishing pool stocked with carp.

There numerous walking and cycling opportunities from the campsite. Beach lovers are spoilt for choice with the seaside resorts of Sandown, Shanklin, Ventnor, Cowes and Ryde all close by. For days out Dinosaur Isle, Shanklin Chine, the Needles and Blackgang Chine shouldn’t be missed.

Adgestone Vineyard, overlooking Brading Down – itself worth exploring for its spectacular views across Culver Down and Sandown Bay - offers tours of its wine cellars and tastings. Its café serves excellent cream teas too.

Wightlink Ferries  offer great discounts to all Club member.

We booked the camping site because we like the Isle of Wight and my wife had stayed here previously. We had a wonderful stay with our young kids. The kids absolutely loved the swimming pool and the fact that they had life guards made us feel much more safe. The life guards have recieved a few criticisms in the posts but I found them to be very professional and always checking to make sure everyone is safe. When I smashed open my head on the bottom of the pool the lifeguards were brill. The managers were very easy to talk to and always asking how we were. They are new to the role this summer but it doesn't show (they have managed previous sites). The location was excellent, near to some excellent beaches but far enough away to feel like its in the country. We set up near to the small park and found that lots of parents with young children had the same idea. Before long the children were all playing together and in and out of each others tents. We made some good friends. Positive points - the location, the staff, the swimming pool, other campers, walk to see the squirrels, the shop and its cooked breakfasts Negative points - the ice blocks felt expensive for the cool boxes, some of the people in their caravans play their tv's too loud. Thank you to the managers and staff for helping to make it an amazing holiday. Keep up the good work and we will see you again next year.

Other reviews have mentioned the need for modernisation which concerned me before visiting.

Other reviews have mentioned the need for modernisation which concerned me before visiting. I needn't have worried. Yes, the showers and toilets are not brand new. But they were always clean (we went bank holiday weekend with a scooter rally so the site was pretty full), water was hot and showers all worked with good pressure. Toilets always working well. Loved the shop on site and the takeaway option which took the pressure off after a long day. We will definitely be returning.

Staff very helpful nothing was to much trouble. Always acknowledged you friendly chats, Knew the island well for banks, resturants, attractions ect. Some narrow lanes on approach to the site but was fine when got to the entrance. Good security system in place(not that it was needed at all) very clean and well maintained showers, toilets, washing up, laundry facilities. Cleaned daily . only down fall was cobwebs and few spiders in the rafters but nothing major. Showers need a little modernising but they are very clean and serve their purpose, could do with few more showers in each block. so not a major issue. Only down fall we had was we couldn't get a signal for the T.V in our caravan tried everything wasn't be all and end all of our holiday. Wifi when purchased 10 for the week was very hit and miss as to getting connected but again wasn't a big problem for us. All in all its a lovely Campsite well catered for everyone including children, for pet owners ,families ect. Excellent idea in height of season to have wrist bands for the swimming pool so everyone get a swim fairly, and it works well.Local store on site is well stocked, friendly staff, lovely homemade cakes. Takeaway meals were really good and at good prices. Had a very enjoyable, pleasant stay here. Many thanks to all the staff and their hard work, keep it up :-) will be back again .
