Our Club Site on the beautiful Isle of Skye

Head to Loch Greshornish on the beautiful Isle of Skye and you’ll find our Skye Club campsite. It boasts an idyllic location right on the loch shore where campers enjoy stunning views over the water to the hills beyond.

The campsite is on a working croft. Magnificent Highland cattle and sheep graze close by and you can buy fresh laid duck and hen eggs at the site shop along with most essentials. There are hardstandings for caravanners and motorhomers with plenty of these pitches enjoying the views. You can go glamping at Skye campsite too. Two camping pods provide cosy accommodation for those who perhaps fancy leaving their own units at home.

A visit to Dunvegan Castle on the Isle’s west coast is a must. It sits on a rocky outcrop betwixt sea and manicured gardens. Seal spotting boat trips operate from the castle jetty. Not far from the castle Caligan Coral beach is a fantastic place to spend the day. Portree is the main town on Skye, set round a harbour you’ll find the Aros Centre. As well as theatre, films and concerts it’s here you’ll find out more about the Isle through a series of exhibitions.

To catch a glimpse of the sea eagles catch a boat from the harbour.

Our visit this year did not disappoint.

This review is for Skye

Our visit this year did not disappoint. The weather could have been better but the welcome was warm and friendly and help is on hand if needed. The site is kept in exceptional condition despite adverse weather. David and Nicky keep the facilities spotless. We have been visiting for a number a years and have never been disappointed. We will be back next year.

Great site with good views.

Great site with good views. Although we didn't appear to have a choice of pitch we were shown to one which perched on the edge with an excellent outlook onto the Loch. We stayed here in September in what can only be described as atrocious conditions - 60mph winds and horizontal rain. The site is very exposed so when the weather's bad you certainly know about it. The high winds made us stay an extra night and the Wardens sorted this out efficiently, saying they had made pitches available as they expected this may happen. There is no TV or (EE) mobile reception but if you choose to buy WiFi it does allow you stream things such as BBC iPlayer to your device. Our only criticism was the gate at the entrance to the site. This seemed to be permanently closed meaning your passenger had to get out to open and close it. Given that it was a simple barrier style gate, not designed to keep animals or children either in or out, we could not understand it being closed during the daytime. If you happened to be at the front of several vehicles all leaving at the same time you could end up holding it open, in the rain, for all of them! Skye is beautiful and we will definitely return, but pray for better weather.

On arrival at the site we were shown to our pitch by Aidrian who advised us not to put our awning up as very high winds were forecast. How true that was....thank you. However it did not deter us from enjoying a wonder week here. As it is very central we were able to see all we came to see...fairy glen, fairy pools, fairy flag. We did visit lots of other places but that is what I specifically wanted to see. I will be returning next year

The site itself was very well placed for exploring Skye and was right on a sea loch. It was very busy but nothing was too much trouble including the manager opening the gate for us to save us getting out in the rain. The tourist information shed was very good and the little shop very handy. Despite an apology about having to put us 'round the back' we still had a lovely view. We will definitely return to see the sights that were obscured by the rain!
