Our Club Site on the beautiful Isle of Skye

Head to Loch Greshornish on the beautiful Isle of Skye and you’ll find our Skye Club campsite. It boasts an idyllic location right on the loch shore where campers enjoy stunning views over the water to the hills beyond.

The campsite is on a working croft. Magnificent Highland cattle and sheep graze close by and you can buy fresh laid duck and hen eggs at the site shop along with most essentials. There are hardstandings for caravanners and motorhomers with plenty of these pitches enjoying the views. You can go glamping at Skye campsite too. Two camping pods provide cosy accommodation for those who perhaps fancy leaving their own units at home.

A visit to Dunvegan Castle on the Isle’s west coast is a must. It sits on a rocky outcrop betwixt sea and manicured gardens. Seal spotting boat trips operate from the castle jetty. Not far from the castle Caligan Coral beach is a fantastic place to spend the day. Portree is the main town on Skye, set round a harbour you’ll find the Aros Centre. As well as theatre, films and concerts it’s here you’ll find out more about the Isle through a series of exhibitions.

To catch a glimpse of the sea eagles catch a boat from the harbour.

Although the site was quite busy we never felt crowded with plenty of room between pitches.

Although the site was quite busy we never felt crowded with plenty of room between pitches. The amenities block was excellent, clean, modern, spacious, in good repair and well laid out. a slight negative was there was no temperature control of the showers, I did not find this a problem as the temperature was perfect for me but my wife found them a little hot. The information center was very useful. Be aware this is a countryside site and we had no mobile signal. This is great if you want to get away from it all but not if you need to stay in contact. WiFi is available but we felt this was quite expensive and did not purchase any time. Most pitches have a great view of the Loch and we had a couple of great sunsets. The weather kept the dreaded midges away most of the time but be prepared they can be brutal if your not ready for them. Also there are no play areas for kids so families need to be prepared for this. This is a peaceful site that make a great base for exploring the north of the island.

The welcome couldn't be bettered, and we were even offered help to turn our caravan around in order to get a first-class view of the loch. (As relatively new caravanners, this was a new experience, not without apprehension, but turned out to be painless !) Totally agree with all the previous positive comments, and would have no hesitation in returning, and recommending. Should also mention the amazing information room - everything covered, and more. One thing to note - use "green" fluids in your toilet, as they have a septic tank which doesn't like chemicals.
