This site requires major ground work.

This review is for Glenmore - Cairngorms

This site requires major ground work. The access roads need resurfacing since they are becoming potholed to such an extent that they are dangerous to cyclists. Road edges are muddy and inadequately maintained, as are hard standing pitches. Grass is neglected and large areas of sedge denote places likely to flood. Almost everyone who visits Glenmore has a bicycle with them yet there are no facilities for securing bikes, or even for keeping them upright. Each pitch should have a bike stand. A few rotting logs with slots cut in them DO NOT count as bike parking. This campsite is in the heart of the Cairngorms and therefore in Britain's premier mountain region. It is unlikely that such a poorly maintained site would be found in the heart of Alpine Switzerland or Austria. Glenmore's attraction lies ENTIRELY in its location. Aside from that it is a poorly-maintained site lacking in visitor facilities and staffed by people who are frequently disorganised, rude and unhelpful.

This review is for Glenmore - Cairngorms

Wow what a fantastic location, right at the edge of the Loch & close to Aviemore, our pitch was in the woods literally a minutes walk from the beach, it had been very wet, so the site was fairly flooded/muddy in places, but we totally expected this, the welcome in reception was friendly & the man who showed us to our pitch was extremely helpful, the showers/toilets were modern and generally clean, but unfortunately were let down first thing in the morning, it's a shame other campers don't clean up after themselves. We stayed over the Scottish bank holiday weekend and the site was extremely busy, so the bins were overflowing for a while. There were plenty of midges, but as long as you're prepared then they're not too much of a problem. There are great walks from the site, perfect for dogs & children cycling & the steam railway that leaves from Avimore is great & allows dogs. I think that being on one of the pitches in the woods is what made this visit fantastic, I'm not sure we would have enjoyed it so much if we'd been on one of the pitches nearer to the toilets/showers, where we were felt very peaceful & secluded. There is a little shop just outside the entrance to the site, but it's very expensive & the welcome in there was less than welcome so we didn't bother using it.
