    Top site for beaches

Beautifully located between the beaches of the Moray Firth and the hills.

Our Rosemarkie Club campsite on Scotland’s Black Isle sits right on the edge of a half-moon bay, flanked by hills and woodland on one side and the stunning Moray Firth on the other. If it’s dolphins you’ve come to see, you won’t have to look too far. The lighthouse, just a short walk from the site is the ideal place.

Campers will enjoy superb views over the Moray Firth to Fort George from many of the pitches here and a walk along the sand from the site brings you to the Faerie Glen. Rosemarkie village is famous for its Pictish stones housed in the Groam House Museum. There’s a pleasant beach extending all the way to Channory Point and a community-run beach café.

Fortrose boasts a ruined cathedral and several restaurants and tearooms. Hidden from most of the town and only reachable by narrow, twisting roads, is a very pretty harbour offering many leisure pursuits and a peaceful and secluded beach.

The more lively Inverness is close by. Sitting on the banks of the River Ness, the town is dominated by a pink crenelated castle. The towns offer many places of interest to visit as well as shops, eating places and a Victorian market.

Nature lovers can take a boat from Avoch Harbour or Cromarty to see dolphins. Or visit Munlochy Bay to spot wading birds, ducks and migratory birds, or feed ducks, geese and swans at Black Isle Wildlife and Country Park.

Very friendly welcome, campsite runs parallel to sandy beach, if you want the front row you can't put your awning up to allow the back row to have a view too. Pitches are generally flat with a few undulations. There is a road behind the pitches which does get a bit of passing traffic. Washrooms are small a bit dated but clean and we particularly prefer the adjustable temperature electric showers, unlike most other Club sites which are far too hot and not adjustable. The staff are very helpful when it comes to local attractions so just ask them. There are steps down to the beach or you can hope over the large pebbles. It can get a bit windy but generally we had great weather but be warned it doesn't get dark at this time of year so may be a problem getting kids to sleep. Chanonry Point is a mile walk from the campsite along the beach or you can park at the free small carpark at the point but it gets very busy. Dolphins are regularly spotted here at around 2 hours after low tide in our experience. You can get very close and its reason enough to come come to Rosemarkie however there are many other reasons to come to this part of Scotland. One no midges!, two beautiful scenery, three great fish and chip shop at Fortrose (Jaki), four good walks and cycling. Loch Ness is about 40 mins away by car the Rib tours are good and we thought the Nessie exhibition was ok. All in all a great location with lots to do or you can relax and watch the world go by.

On arrival you get the usual greeting from the site staff.

On arrival you get the usual greeting from the site staff. The site is level and the amenities are clean at all times but old. The showers are limited, only one in the gents, and not that good. Seems expensive considering the amenities, there are site with better Glencoe being one. the golf club do a nice meal and there is a nice restraint just up the road.

A great easy to get to site.

A great easy to get to site. As this was our first time out in Betsy (our caravan) we didn't want to go far from where we live, it was also our first time towing. Very pleasant friendly reception, shown pitch and given helpful advice. Beautiful spot looking out to sea. All facilities were clean and well kept and easily accessible. We were told caravaners were friendly people how true. Was also given information on places to visit ie fairy glen, great walk and magical place. We will definitely be back as we enjoyed the whole experience. Thank you April and Andy.
