Lovely hidden gem of a site! The views were stunning and the owner welcoming.

Lovely hidden gem of a site! The views were stunning and the owner welcoming. We had an overnight stay there on our way further north. It's low cost at just 10 a night including the electric. There are no showers or toilets so you do need your own sanitation. Access is through a single track road with plenty of passing places. This is a real retreat if you want to get away from it all. It's not a fancy site but the low cost and gorgeous location more than make up for that. If you're prone to being bitten, make sure you have a hat and plenty of insect repellent. Like a lot of the Highlands areas, this is midge country. I managed to escape unbitten, I'm pleased to say.

Excellent quiet site in a great location for Inverness/Cairngorm/Loch Ness.

Excellent quiet site in a great location for Inverness/Cairngorm/Loch Ness. Very quiet site with 5 hard standing pitches, water, electric (16amp) and 2 chemical disposal points (one for green and one for blue chemicals). The site is around 7 miles from the A9. Mostly single track road with passing places, not a busy road and no awkward hills or corners. On arriving at the site there is quite a tight turn to get into the site, but no problem if you give yourself enough room to turn, otherwise go straight ahead into the camping field, turn around and come back out for an easier turn onto the hard standing area. The pitches are a little overgrown but plenty of room. One of the pitches is large enough for two caravans so we used that to park the car on. Stayed mid-July, during the school holidays for a week and the only other visitor was a motorhome for 2 nights. There is a self service system if the owner is not available, you leave payment in a box on the gate when you depart. Cost is only 10 a night including electric and free wifi (speed is around 2MB download so only good for basic browsing, upload of 150KB). You will not get a mobile or internet signal here as there is a large hill right behind the site blocking all signals, a 5 minute walk down the road towards the river is a good place to go if you need to make phone calls. Take the back road to Inverness and you will find Asda around a 15 minute drive away (10 miles). There is a shop in the village 2 miles away that sells basic supplies. Take the scenic mountain road to Tomatin/A9 rather than going the quick route, some great scenery and the drive to Fort Augustus is good too. There is a hotel/restaurant half a mile away but did not try it. If you are fit enough, you can climb/scramble up the large hill at the back of the site. RSPB site a few miles away and much more to see if you explore the back roads. Will be back, don't know of anywhere else where I can get a week during the summer holidays for 70.

What a lovely site! We used it as an overnight stopover travelling back from the Western Isles to the Edinburgh area. It's about a 15 minute drive from the A9 so works well in this respect. Its single track in places but wasn't busy. Having visited we could certainly see a longer stay in this somewhat hidden away corner of Scotland. We were given a good welcome and introduced to all the available facilities. The owners are themselves motorhome owners so know what they are doing. There was no one else staying so we had a choice of pitch. All the pitches are level and set amongst wildflowers - very beautiful to look at - and the surrounding hills add to the scene. Bins, recycling, EHU, CDP and fresh water were available on site. We left quite early so did not have time to look at the nursery itself, but it looked very interesting. All-in-all a good CS; well worth a visit.

What a gem of a spot. Warm, friendly welcome and very very helpful.

What a gem of a spot. Warm, friendly welcome and very very helpful. The site has everything we need, water and waste disposal, anything else is a bonus. Apart from the site itself it is a great place to base yourself for visiting the Loch Ness area. The RSPB reserve at Loch Ruthven is nearby and Abernethy only 30 miles away over an interesting road. Just a word of caution. The site is probably best approached from the Farr direction especially if towing due to the entrance and caravans over about 6.5m shipping length will not make it in. However we would recommend this CS to anyone and everyone in nned of peace and quite or a base for other activities.
