Overview

This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operates under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.

Hill Farm is a working farm set high in the Chiltern Hills in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (ANOB). Not many neighbours, but many interesting areas to visit whilst you stay with us. Glorious walking country with the Ridgeway Path; Wendover Woods with its trails and leisure activities, including Go-Ape; Chiltern Forest Golf Course; Aston Clinton Mountain Bike downhill course, all within 1 mile. Further afield is Oxford; Whipsnade Zoo; Walter Rothschild Natural History Museum at Tring; Hellfire Caves and Mausoleum at High Wycombe; Ashridge Park and the Bridgewater Monument. London approx. 40 minutes train trip from Tring/Euston or Wendover/Marylebone for theatres, galleries and sightseeing. Whilst on site you may see Red Kites, Buzzards, Muntjak and Roe deer, as well as the farm cows, calves and Charolais bull. We also have chickens, aviary birds and a pond with large Koi. We look forward to seeing you.

This review is for Hill Farm

We booked for three nights so that we could attend our sons graduation from RAF Halton (2 miles away) but ended staying for five as the site is ideally placed for the things we enjoy doing. Jill who owns the site has the perfect balance of being friendly and informative without being intrusive and informed us when we booked that we would be her first visitors as they only got their licence at the end of last month and wanted as much feedback as possible. The entrance looks tight but if you swing wide there is plenty of room, the site is on a gentle slope one ramp leveled the van. This site is exactly what we like, a basic site with water, electric and a CDP but kept at the highest standard, it is peaceful with excellent views in all directions and whilst the site is close to the road it has very little traffic and is sheltered by the hedge so we did not notice it at all. Jill allowed us to take a short cut through the field behind the site which gives you direct access into Wendover woods (the footpath into the woods is 500 yard down the road) with its "Go Ape", mountain bike tracks and footpaths an excellent place for walking the dogs, and on the other side of the road you have Chiltern's AONB nature reserve with its breath taking views and abundant wildlife, if you fancy a longer walk you can join The Ridgeway national trail about a mile away. But if you like to spoil a walk there is a golf course just down the road, something for everyone. Even though it feels like the site is in the middle of nowhere you are actually close to everything with over 30 National trust properties and Oxford within a 20 mile radius and it's not much further to London. By day we were entertained by the Red Kites soaring on the thermals along with the gliders from the airfield and at dusk the Muntjac deer in the field behind. For us this is a brilliant little site that we will be using again and again. Jill for such a new site it amazes me how right you have got everything.
