A spacious, quiet campsite by the county town of Hertford that you can enjoy all year round.

Our Hertford Club campsite is on the outskirts of the attractive market town of the same name and surrounded by rolling countryside.

This campsite, although large is spacious with some 250 pitches, offers many quiet and secluded pitches and there are lots of separate areas to choose from. The site is well laid out with well- maintained facilities including washing machine and dryers, inside dish washing area, an outdoor play area and dog walk.

There is a separate tent area with a facility block close at hand. The whole site is plentifully supplied with trees, hedges and shrubs and there is an attractive lake too.

It’s an easy walk into Hertford with its town square and River Lea towpath walk. And Balls Park close by is excellent for dog-walks.

The Cole Green Way, part of the National Cycle Network, is about 1.5 miles from the campsite, starting at Hertford Football Club it follows a former railway to Welwyn Garden City. There are more recreational options at Hartham Common, just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre.

For days out there’s Paradise Wildlife Park, Knebworth House and Waltham Abbey or you can take a train to London from Hertford East which is a 20-minute walk from the campsite.

The site is ideally located for us as we have family in Hertford and it's the second time we've stayed here this year. We booked a hard standing pitch near the toilet block which was provided as requested. As usual, if we didn't like the pitch, we had an option to change. Although we arrived later in the day (after 6.00pm) we were greeted by the ever friendly staff who quickly booked us in and guided us to our pitch, offering to stay and help get our caravan on it. As the site was not too busy, there was no rush for us to leave the site on departure day which gave us time to visit the family in Hertford for a while after getting everything ready to go. We'll be booking to visit again early in the new year and more after!

This is a very large site with plenty of room for everyone.

This is a very large site with plenty of room for everyone. Top notch facilities as you would expect from a C&CC site. We were surprised how easy it is to walk into the bustling Hertford town centre. Anyone wanting a day out in London will be pleased to hear it is only about a 20 minute walk to Hertford East station with direct trains to Liverpool Street.

I have two issues.

This review is for Hertford

I have two issues. The first part of the access road is tarmacked and fine, but the second part is loose gravel with deep pot holes and large puddles. The second toilet block is closed for winter which is expected nowadays. Which means negotiating the rough track with mud etc. There is a path across the field towards the other toilet block, but it stops halfway so it means trying to walk the rest of the way through a waterlogged field. In the summer it wouldn't be a problem under normal conditions. On the other hand it wouldn't be necessary with the other toilet block open. The hard standing pitches were fine. The main road outside the site has no foot path for a couple of hundred yards when walking into town. It would be possible to create a pedestrian entrance further down the road where to footpath starts. This piece of road has no escape for pedestians from traffic on an unlit road.
