    Top site for dogs

A spacious, quiet campsite by the county town of Hertford that you can enjoy all year round.

Our Hertford Club campsite is on the outskirts of the attractive market town of the same name and surrounded by rolling countryside.

This campsite, although large is spacious with some 250 pitches, offers many quiet and secluded pitches and there are lots of separate areas to choose from. The site is well laid out with well- maintained facilities including washing machine and dryers, inside dish washing area, an outdoor play area and dog walk.

There is a separate tent area with a facility block close at hand. The whole site is plentifully supplied with trees, hedges and shrubs and there is an attractive lake too.

It’s an easy walk into Hertford with its town square and River Lea towpath walk. And Balls Park close by is excellent for dog-walks.

The Cole Green Way, part of the National Cycle Network, is about 1.5 miles from the campsite, starting at Hertford Football Club it follows a former railway to Welwyn Garden City. There are more recreational options at Hartham Common, just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre.

For days out there’s Paradise Wildlife Park, Knebworth House and Waltham Abbey or you can take a train to London from Hertford East which is a 20-minute walk from the campsite.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

satellite signal can be tricky depending on pitch position. only downside of this trip one of the chemical disposal sites was closed and the other was in the opposite end of the site in the closed block but no real hassle would like to be able to stay later than 12 noon but a great site will go again

We stayed for a week, and thoroughly enjoyed the site.

We stayed for a week, and thoroughly enjoyed the site. There was plenty of space to pitch in, and be separate from people. Wardens helpful on helping in selecting the right pitch for our needs. The play area is large enough to separate ball games from the play equipment, and is surrounded by trees/bushes ... and this is an added bonus for den making. Shower blocks ... good facilities, though could not fathom the lack of hand soap dispensers. One word of warning ... the wardens have put up signs to warn of the squirrels operating in the area ... harmless enough perhaps? No .. these are squirrels with SAS (see below) training! They come in the dead of night, and will attempt to raid your food supplies. Chocolate appears to be a favourite of theirs too ..... they managed to remove a screw top lid on our chocolate spread! Okay .. so all items removed .... they can chew through mesh too don't forget. Thinking it was okay to leave tinned and plastic boxed items in our store .. oh no! Scratch/teeth marks there too .... So in all .. a lovely site, would happily visit again. But do be aware of the Search And Snack squad operating in the area!! If you enjoy walking, do visit the nearby Balls Wood. Marked trails through the woods, with information boards too. Wildlife a plenty to spot too.
