Overview

  • Campsites next to or within walking distance of a beach

    Top site for beaches

Explore the beauty of England's south coast from our campsite.

With cycling and walking trails in abundance, miles of sandy beaches, bustling towns, pretty chocolate box villages and a host of family attractions within a short distance our Chichester Club Campsite offers something for everyone.

Chichester is a small, welcoming campsite. Once an orchard it has a relaxing ambience and is an ideal setting for kicking back and relaxing after a hectic day exploring the area.

Head across the road on foot or two wheels to enjoy the paths to the coast and Chichester harbour. Or catch a bus from outside the site to Chichester (great for shopping), Bognor, Littlehampton and Brighton in one direction and Southampton and Portsmouth (with the Spinnaker Tower, Gunwharf Keys and the Historic Dockyard) in the other.

For a bucket and space day head to the Blue Flag beach at West Wittering where you’ll find sand dunes, sheltered waters and acres of space. East Head and Selsey too are great for lazy beach days.

Worth Noting

Electric security barriers in operation. Please note there is no parking for visitors and, because of the narrow entrance road, there are no overnight parking facilities.

WiFi

100% coverage cannot be guaranteed due to rural location, weather conditions and changing flora or fauna. These can cause variable signal strength. Hotspots are available. Prices.

Eat Local

Chichester hosts a farmers' market twice a month. Southbourne farm shop near to site sells a range of local products and the Tupenny Barn sells organic fruit and vegetables.

A small site that always seems to be fairly full.

This review is for Chichester

A small site that always seems to be fairly full. Helpful wardens who keep the facilities very clean. On the minus side the wifi is very slow (1.4 download (max)) which, in this day and age, is ridiculous. Also, there are only 2 fresh water points, one brown water waste disposal point and one chemical waste point to cater for the entire site! If you are at the top end of the orchard you are in for quite a treck.. Final tip. Pack a jemmy or claw hammer. Getting tent pegs out of the ground at this site can be a nightmare! In summary. A nice, clean, well run site that could do with some basic infrastructure improvements. I have never known a site with such hard ground! Be warned!

We would have liked to stay longer, it is a lovely flat site in an old orchard. Lovely sunrise and sunsets. With our bus passes we were able to see the surrounding area. It is a good site in a good position with good friendly helpful staff.

Whilst the site is small the facilities are very good.

Whilst the site is small the facilities are very good. Bus stops outside the entrance on routes to Portsmouth and Chichester which link into other routes.Reasonably quiet although pleased we did not have a pitch near the road.Emshurst is a lovely place to visit and only 1 mile away. Thanks to the staff for looking after the site so well.

I have one or two specific problems and one or two general ones.

This review is for Chichester

I have one or two specific problems and one or two general ones. Firstly, let me reiterate as above that the standard was, as usual, excellent (that's why we use The Club) and the staff friendly and helpful. However, one campervan near us, on two evenings running, spent at least ten minutes running his engine, causing such noxious fumes that I had to retire inside our tent to escape them. If he had stayed any longer, we would have complained to the staff but fortunately he left the following day. I realise this is not the fault of the Club or the site but I would be grateful if the site could make it clear to all that such behaviour is unacceptable. The lady in the unit next to us was also affected. We also had someone on a unit close to us who had some sort of instrument; I hesitate to call it musical as, although it played notes, they were not on a scale and I am reliably informed that the only chord it could have played was b flat minor. It looked a bit like the top of a steel drum, turned upside down and to hear it being "played" three or four evenings in a row, started to wear on the nerves, to say the least. My next comments are general. Firstly, I feel that the site fees, even now I am old enough to benefit from a discount, are becoming too high. At 160 for a week and, taking into account the membership fee, we could have stayed, warm and secure, with tea and coffee provided and bathroom ensuite, at a standard low cost hotel. Don't get me wrong, I love camping but at what price? My other "niggle" is the WiFi charge. Firstly, unless you know in advance that you're going to camp for at least two weeks in any year, I think it is inordinately expensive, then only one person at a time can use it and it will drop out if you don't utilise it within a specific period of time. This can be very frustrating if you are in the middle of something and it drops out, please reconsider this fee, or provide free WiFi for all, that would be much better.
