Nice little site.

This review is for Rushcroft Farm

Nice little site. Now lets consider previous reviews! Yes the access is a bit tight but I got a 6 metre motorhome in just fine. Yes there is a railway close by but it's not exactly noisy. Yes you may not see the owners but the board showing you where to pitch works well. Yes the showers/loos are basic but they're clean and the water is hot. Yes the site is on a slight slope but nothing that can't be sorted with ramps or steadies. Yes your sat nav will take you to the wrong entrance but the directions in the book are right. Think positive folks - this is a nice site in a good location for both the New Forest and the coast and it is open all year when lots of the bigger sites nearby close at the end of September. I'd certainly go again.

Well organised site. Marked out and allocated plots.

Well organised site. Marked out and allocated plots. Railway is close but nearly all trains were electric, so it was quieter than a road. Site was full, so expect queues for loos/shower at peak times. Entrance is the lane opposite the Post Office and then follow the narrow lane to the left of the station. Wardens were friendly and site as good as many we've stayed on so don't let previous reviews put you off. We didn't make it to the shop where milk/sausages/eggs etc were advertised. Sway has pubs and shops and within easy walking, but take a torch as the lane would be dark at night. We paid £19 a night incl electric in August which was more than we expected.

We visited Rushcroft Farm in May on a bank holiday weekend and only have praise for the site and Lynn who runs it. Sway is a lovely village and there is a post office, and very nice pub The Silver Hind that does great food and lets dogs in, a small but well stocked supermarket and a traditional local butchers. Sway railway station is located on the road into the site and the railway runs past but this takes you to all the local areas, ie Lymington, Lyndhurst, Southampton Poole etc, we did not find this noisy or a nuisance. Incidentally our visit to Rushcroft Farm is why we joined the C&CC. We will definitely go again to this little gem.

The sites wardens were very helpful, friendly and were more than willing to give advice and help out in whatever way they could. however, i feel that the site was a little primitive, the facilities were ok and the ground had a slight slope. I was charged the same sum for a tent, as i would have been had i had a caravan and a proper pitch with hardstanding (i had a sloping grass pitch) There were 2 showers and 2 toilets. the toilets were very cramped alongside a shower and i wasnt impressed having to pay 20 pence per 3 minutes of shower use. The site is situated right next to sway train station but they dont mention this when you book, they refer instead, to the post office opposite regarding directions. I wouldnt say the trains are VERY noisy but i will say they can disturb your sleep and they would be a nightmare if you are a light sleeper. overall the site is "ok" but i'm not sure i would re visit when there are so many alternative cs sites. the reason i stayed there was alot of the other sites refused me because i didnt have a toilet with me and they didnt have toilets on their site. in future i think i would take a porta potti and try a different site.
