A beautiful campsite location on the Lleyn Peninsula in North Wales.

Our Llanystumdwy Club campsite in North West Wales is located between mountains and sea in an area of natural beauty. Its position makes it ideal for exploring both the Lleyn Peninsula and Snowdonia National Park – both great walking areas.

Lovely views extend over the rolling countryside from the campsite which is bordered by tree and dry stone walls. The site boasts 70 pitches – many sloping – spread out over a large field. Facilities are clean tidy and include toilets, showers, a laundry and dog walk.

It’s a short walk to the village of Llanystumdwy. Here you’ll find a pub serving home-cooked food and a museum dedicated to Lloyd George who lived in the village until the age of 16.

Criccieth to the east of the campsite has a castle and plenty of independent shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. It also has a long esplanade along the seafront and a sandy beach. Further on Porthmadog is the gateway to the Snowdonia National Park. It’s also home to the Ffestiniog and Welsh High Railways. Jump on a train at either end of the town, enjoy the mountain scenery.

Caernarfon, Portmadog, Pwhelli and Port Merrion are all easily accessible by either bus, car or train from the campsite.

Worth Noting

Please note that the majority of pitches are sloping and chocks will be required. Club Service Pitches are only 10amp.

Yes we agree that part of the site is on a gradient so chocks and wedges are essential if you are unable to secure a level pitch. This small site is well drained and all grassed area is mown and well maintained. It is a sheltered site just off the main road so a little bit of traffic noise. The Wardens are extremely helpful and diligent. They go the extra mile to ensure a pleasant stay. There is a bus stop located outside the site to enable transport to Criccieth, Porthmadog, Pwhelli etc. Nice walk to the beach. Llanystumdwy is a lovely village in itself and a visit to the Lloyd George Museum and Grave is a must.

The site has a sloping positioned between two very noisy busy roads, the constant vehicle noise didn't stop until 2300 and then it re-started again at 0530. The sloping non-electric pitch I was given was within a few meters of the main road and more or less on a narrow grass verge when there were flat empty hard stands available further away from the road but of course these were serviced pitches. We were exhausted come morning but rose early and left as soon as we could before breakfast because of the noise. Unfortunately, it's the same old Camping & Caravan Club story, if you don't require an electric hook up you can't have a flat/level pitch as their reserved for folk who do want electric. This campsite is not recommended!

The Toilets, showers etc. were well maintained and kept spotlessly clean.

The Toilets, showers etc. were well maintained and kept spotlessly clean. The site staff were friendly and helpful. There is an information hut and the site office has some groceries. The hard standing pitches are level but the grass pitches are mostly sloping. There is some road noise. The upside of a nearby road is easy access to local buses (good service). The site is very well placed for visiting the Lleyn peninsular and Snowdonia. For walkers there are a number of footpaths near the site. We really enjoyed our stay.
