A beautiful campsite location on the Lleyn Peninsula in North Wales.

Our Llanystumdwy Club campsite in North West Wales is located between mountains and sea in an area of natural beauty. Its position makes it ideal for exploring both the Lleyn Peninsula and Snowdonia National Park – both great walking areas.

Lovely views extend over the rolling countryside from the campsite which is bordered by tree and dry stone walls. The site boasts 70 pitches – many sloping – spread out over a large field. Facilities are clean tidy and include toilets, showers, a laundry and dog walk.

It’s a short walk to the village of Llanystumdwy. Here you’ll find a pub serving home-cooked food and a museum dedicated to Lloyd George who lived in the village until the age of 16.

Criccieth to the east of the campsite has a castle and plenty of independent shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. It also has a long esplanade along the seafront and a sandy beach. Further on Porthmadog is the gateway to the Snowdonia National Park. It’s also home to the Ffestiniog and Welsh High Railways. Jump on a train at either end of the town, enjoy the mountain scenery.

Caernarfon, Portmadog, Pwhelli and Port Merrion are all easily accessible by either bus, car or train from the campsite.

Worth Noting

Please note that the majority of pitches are sloping and chocks will be required. Club Service Pitches are only 10amp.

This site has separate rooms for showers and for toilets.

This site has separate rooms for showers and for toilets. We got a flatter grass pitch at the top of the main field but you should avoid this if you want shade from the sun. The staff are excellent and were usually visible near reception so we felt very cared for. They provide freezer blocks. The road noise will be an issue for some as the site looks secluded but is off the main coast road however this didn't detract from our stay. The standard grass pitches are not very big and no privacy hedges / trees in between but I find this with most uk sites. We really liked the site. We weren't too excited by the local pub food; instead I'd recommend the excellent butcher on the main street in Criccieth, about 2 miles from the site, and get the bbq going!

Really enjoyed our stay. Weather great so got out and about. Pity about bus passes. Facilities ok with us, don't know what some people expect (the Ritz?) for what we paid. Met some very nice friendly people happy to help each other out with info of places to walk and visit. Local pub fine, opening times could be better. Enjoyed our visits to Abersoch, Nefyn and Beddgelert. Rather sad that the information office not manned any longer. Porthmadog office open and staff very helpful. A nice pint of Brains dark went down well of an evening.

The pitches are mainly grass & on a slope.

This review is for Llanystumdwy

The pitches are mainly grass & on a slope. Even using our highest ramps we were unable to get our motorhome level. We probably wouldn't stay again unless the site could offer flatter hard standing pitches which is such a shame as the site is in a good location served by a reasonable bus service. Facilities a bit dated but very clean. Best Chemical toilet disposal ever, with facilities for washing and drying of hands after use.

Stayed at the site at the beginning of April, the weather could have been better, but i had been before when the weather was good, so i know how nice the site can be! the ground was rather soaked, so very sqishy,! the wardens did all that they could to make everyones stay as good as possible, the site facilities were always clean and the shop well stocked! Martin and Eleanor were always very friendly and knowleageable about the area, they could not do enough to help out! I will be back in the near future!
