when we arrived the site manager informed us that campers hadn't left so very limited to choice of pitch, very busy site with traffic movement and pitches very close together, bins over flowing, and campers arriving late and early morning. noisy site not what we would expect to find on a forest site. lovely railway on site, and a lovely dog walk, ice cream palour in the next village was lovely. pubs in village lovely food, we asked if we could swap sites but was told no refund after 24 hrs we are a family with 2 young children and 1 dog, wanting a quiet walking, family time holiday very disappointed with the site will not return. lovely dog friendly beach in port maddock.

This review is for Beddgelert - Snowdonia

We spent one night in September. We enjoyed our stay. We were slightly disappointed that the Railway was only running 2 trains each way per day, which meant you couldn't use it to have a very long visit to either Caernarfon or Porthmadog, which is why we only booked the one night. There is an excellent track to the village of Beddgelert. The site itself is very nice and we had a good choice of pitches, which are well spaced.

We arrived at midday as requested to find reception closed due to staff cleaning, a note on the door advised us to choose our own pitch, very difficult. We tried 3 different pitches before we found one where our average size van and awning would fit. The pitches are not ideal for caravans, very un level with poor drainage, we had a lot of rain and our awning was swamped. The surroundings and location are beautiful and there is so much to do in the area, we would love to return to the same site but would now be prepared for a lot of mud and loose slate/stone (hardstanding) and the many potholes filled with water which the kiddies loved jumping in! The staff work hard to clean the toilets and showers but its shocking how some campers leave them even thou there is a mop provided to clean up! The showers are hot,and spacious but are fixed very close to the wall so not that great to stand under. The play park is run down, swings have obviously been removed and not replaced so could be improved, its lovely and quiet in the evenings i expect every one is exhausted with their days activities as there really is so much to do and visit with in the local area. dont be put off by the pitches, just be prepared, as when sold as a select pitch i was expecting something a bit more worthy of the title.
