This campsite could be amazing. Its location is stunning with walks right from the site. The negatives are: the whole site needs a revamp, the road ways are potholed, and narrow, the pitches not well sign posted and in need of attention, The facilities, whilst lovely and clean, need upgrading, On arrival, driving around the site the smaller pitches were a bit of a squeeze between the trees, so we opted to pay for one of their extra large premium pitches, we expected to pay around 5.00/7.00 extra per night, not the 12.50 per night charged. We thought it was excessive. It is a real shame not more care and attention is given to the campsite. It looks very natural but this could be maintained with careful planning. The caravan and camping club are letting their reputation slip with this site. As commented this campsite could be amazing, it should be amazing. We enjoyed our short break and love this area of Wales. Walks are plentiful and the campsite sell a very good guide of walks, which is well worth investing in. Beddgelert is very pretty and the backdrop of the Snowdonia makes it even more picturesque. Their is a wide range of activities to do in the area making this an ideal place for families of all ages.

We arrived later than we wanted (big crash on the M56 - thanks!), so it was very dark when we arrived. We now understand why they ask you to pitch in the daylight - the site is a bit of a maze, the pitches are not lit up, you're not allocated a pitch, they're tucked between trees and all over the place and it's difficult to get your bearings. (Bring a REALLY good torch!) Saying this, we loved the site. Yes, in the dark on the first night we had no idea whereabouts on the site we were - I drove in and found a space that looked OK and we set up there - but in the daylight, when you do get your bearings, the crazy layout of this site is a massive bonus - lots of privacy. We stayed at the top end of the site on one of the select pitches (near the railway line). We loved it. It was a good walk to the toilets from here though, so if you've a weak bladder it may well be worth finding a closer spot. The homemade pizzas (we had the veg, farmhouse and pepperoni pizzas between us) were beautiful. But, at 8 a piece, they are pretty expensive. Especially when you can pick up a DIY pizza kit from Tesco for 1.30 - and that makes 2 pizzas. Hmmm. The homemade bread in the morning was also lovely and lasted a day or so. We ordered the bloomer, it was nice. Costs just shy of 2. Our daughter loved the play area, the rabbits, squirrels and watching the trains go by. A walk into Beddgelert from here took about 30 mins, and that was with a buggy - which we had no problems with on the path. Take a visit to Sygun Mines. It was fantastic. Again, we walked there from Beddgelert - took around 30 mins. It was really exciting going through all the caves and they had a good cafe too. Definitely be visiting this site again!
