    Top site for fishing

On-site fishing available and the Cotswolds within easy driving distance.

You’ll find our pretty Winchcombe Club campsite in the heart of the Cotswolds. Its location near the village of Alderton makes this campsite the perfect base for exploring the area’s pretty honey-colour limestone towns and villages. It’s great walking country too. ¬For starters there’s the Winchcombe way. This 42-mile, figure-of-eight trail runs adjacent to the campsite.

Winchcombe is a charming, quiet little site with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. The focal point of the site is its carp pool – attractive not only to fishermen but an abundance of friendly birdlife too. Bag yourself a pool-side pitch and enjoy a prime fishing spot.

The site has excellent toilet and shower facilities, a games room and dog walk. And the site shop stocks a variety of local produce from nearby farms, dairies, butchers and bakers.

The attractive town of Winchcombe is a short drive from the site. It has Walkers are Welcome status and a tempting variety of top restaurants, pubs and tea shops. Further afield Cheltenham with its elegant Regency houses, award-wining gardens and stylish shops is worth visiting.

If you'd like to go glamping then Winchcombe Ready Camp is the perfect choice. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Self-catering accommodation is also available at this campsite.

The site is primarily geared for caravans and motor homes.

This review is for Winchcombe

The site is primarily geared for caravans and motor homes. The camping places are either near the road or at the far end of the site. The facilities are near the entrance, so if you are located at the back of the site, it is a third of a mile there and back to the loo. The children's play area has very limited equipment.

The town of Evesham is not far away with walks down by the river.

The town of Evesham is not far away with walks down by the river. Also the village of Broadway is worth a visit as well. The site is quite central for many other places. On arrival at the club when you book in, make sure you ask for a pitch with television reception as not all pitches have his facility. Otherwise we had a lovely week. The staff are really friendly and helpful.

We were lucky enough get a pitch by the lake but all pitches have views to the surrounding hills. The pitches are very generously sized and level. The wardens are very friendly and helpful and the facilities were always spotless. We would definitely recommend this site and would visit again.

I arrived late owing to very bad weather and traffic conditions.

I arrived late owing to very bad weather and traffic conditions. I was quickly taken to the pitch and told to park to the left of a tree limiting the back corner of the site and the assistant left. I had difficulty in reversing into the pitch because of the heavy rain and no external help. I was almost in position when I collided with a tree stump and damaged the rear underside of the van. I examined the damage and pitch boundary the following morning. I concluded that the tree stump was within the pitch boundary and that the tree stump should have been cut lower down or removed completely. I reported the incident to the warden before I departed. She made no comment and was neither sympathetic or unsympathetic This is not a complaint. I returned for a longer stay later in the month and explained to the warden that I would include my views when I made a claim with Club Care Insurance that the stump should have been removed and that this incident was just waiting for the right conditions to happen. I must emphasise that I attach no blame to the club or any employee.
