    Top site for fishing

On-site fishing available and the Cotswolds within easy driving distance.

You’ll find our pretty Winchcombe Club campsite in the heart of the Cotswolds. Its location near the village of Alderton makes this campsite the perfect base for exploring the area’s pretty honey-colour limestone towns and villages. It’s great walking country too. ¬For starters there’s the Winchcombe way. This 42-mile, figure-of-eight trail runs adjacent to the campsite.

Winchcombe is a charming, quiet little site with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. The focal point of the site is its carp pool – attractive not only to fishermen but an abundance of friendly birdlife too. Bag yourself a pool-side pitch and enjoy a prime fishing spot.

The site has excellent toilet and shower facilities, a games room and dog walk. And the site shop stocks a variety of local produce from nearby farms, dairies, butchers and bakers. There’s even a fish and chip van that drops in a couple of times a week.

The attractive town of Winchcombe is a short drive from the site. It has Walkers are Welcome status and a tempting variety of top restaurants, pubs and tea shops. Further afield Cheltenham with its elegant Regency houses, award-wining gardens and stylish shops is worth visiting.

Self-catering accommodation is available at this campsite.

We only had a one night stop over as we were travelling down to the SW the next day. We were greeted on arrival by Susan who could not do enough for us. Her personality shone throughout while she give us a guided tour of the site and its amenities. An excellent site and will definatley be back to it again only next time for a longer stay.

This is one of the best sites we have stayed on.

This review is for Winchcombe

This is one of the best sites we have stayed on. The location is stunning and the lake provides a lovely setting. Our pitch was right by the lake. Hubby a bit upset about the cost of the fishing and the fact that the lake was full of large branches that had fallen from the surrounding trees, but he enjoyed it anyway. He did think he had caught a 'whopper' that turned out to be a rather large piece of a tree. The ducklings [7 in all 6 brown ones and an adorable yellow one] were a real treat and came waddling to the awning frequently. I hope they manage to grow without any trouble from the magpies and the crows. All in all a lovely 6 nights and only an hour and a half from home.

totally recommend this site, clean , peaceful with exceptional wardens . Good dog walk, ideal to explore the towns around like Pershore, Winchcombe and the Cotswolds. Excellent to relax overlooking the lake, which can be fished too if you wish.

Majority of grass only pitches are too near very busy road for any unit with canvas walls.

Majority of grass only pitches are too near very busy road for any unit with canvas walls. Other grass pitches are right down the far end of the site and so they are a long way from the amenities block for tenters, etc. My second night was spent on the one pitch which is near the amenities block but more sheltered from the road. Otherwise a very nice site; one which I have driven past many times in the past and one which I will probably use again as I go across to mid-Wales and borders quite often. Very helpful staff on both occasions. This site is very convenient for Prescott Hill Climb and the Bugatti Trust Museum. I had reason to visit the Museum on both days that I stayed at the Winchcombe site.
