Overview

This is a Certificated Site (CS). A small campsite that accepts just five caravans or motorhomes. Some of these CS’s accept tents, space permitting. CSs are often quieter, smaller places to camp, with many offering minimal facilities – ideal for when you want to get away from it all.

The site was beautifully maintained with new clean toilet block facilities.

The site was beautifully maintained with new clean toilet block facilities. There were nice touches such as brazier and logs, picnic benches, eggs, tourist information etc. This is an ideal secluded quiet site but within close proximity to towns and other tourist attractions. It was peaceful when we stayed (3 vans and 2 tents) just as a hideaway site should be! Lovely lake and walk through woodland on site. There is also a frisbee golf trail through paddock and woods. We will definitely be staying again!

A very tidy site with an excellent shower/toilet block which is scrupulously maintained in a very clean condition. Mainly level. Caravans are directed to pitch on the north-east side, sheltered from the morning sun by a high hedge. The slope here is minimal. Behind the hedge is a minor road junction which has light traffic, but noise from the junction persists until quite late. Pitches are allocated by the owner and are surprisingly close together. They benefit from individual picnic tables. Tents are directed to the south and west borders of the site. Here the land slopes quite considerably. There is plenty of level land in the centre of the field but, frustratingly, this appears to be reserved as a play area. Some of the pitches benefit from the shelter of large trees. Others are open. Some have views of the fishing lake. The shower/toilet block steps are close by the access gate. This presents some hazard for small children who are not fully traffic-aware, especially those going to and from the caravan pitches. It quickly becomes a chore to ferry the children there and back. When considering the overall cost of your stay, be aware that showers are charged at 50p for 3 minutes. It is unfeasible to wash with less than two tokens per person per shower. No free tokens are included in the site fee, which seems an oversight given the relatively high daily charge. The shower temperature is not adjustable. We judged it to be set a little too hot for young children and probably unbearable for anyone with moderate sunburn.

This the best family friendly camp site we have stayed at.

This review is for Beanhill Farm

This the best family friendly camp site we have stayed at. The owners site everyone around the perimeter of a lovely large field so that the middle can be used by all the children in view of their tents or caravans - who needs a playground when the kids have such a big space in which to play games/ride a bike and make new friends. The toilet/shower block is immaculate and well worth the 50p charge for a (nice and warm) shower. A nice touch is the ability to swap books/magazines, buy local eggs and obtain local touist information. The shop at the local petrol station stocks everything you need or you can go into Lydney for further supplies. We enjoyed kayaking in Symonds Yat and the walks offered by the Forestry Commission in the nearby Forest of Dean. If you like fishing, then there's a fly fishing lake on site, situated behind the camping field. We will return!
