With spectacular views over Loch Lomond, this Club campsite is great for relaxing.

The appeal of our Milarrochy Bay Club campsite has to be its location on the east shore of the stunning Loch Lomond in the Loch Lomond and Trossach’s National Park.

This tranquil campsite is popular with walkers, with the West Highland Way footpath right on the doorstep, while Ben Lomond, the highest mountain in the area, is north of the campsite near Rowardennan. Milarrochy Bay campsite will appeal to boaters and canoeists too with a long loch-side frontage with slipways for boat launching.

After a day’s walking or messing around on the water, this campsite is ideal for just sitting back and soaking up the breathtaking views across the Loch. This 150-pitch campsite welcomes all types of campers. Backpackers using the site can make use on the backpacker facility – a bonus in inclement weather.

South of the campsite in Balloch you can enjoy a guided hike from the Loch Lomond Shores Visitor Centre or follow the Sculpture Trail from Loch Lomond Shores. Hop on a water bus from here too and enjoy a wide range of cruises, some calling in at the Loch’s many islands, or hire a kayak, canoe or pedal boat. The amazing Sea Life Centre is here too and Balloch Castle and Country Park.

Learn about the Scottish folk hero Red MacGregor at the Rob Roy and Trossach’s Visitor Centre at Callendar. Rob Roy’s Cave and Bracklinn Falls are here too.

No trip to Scotland should be without a taste of its favourite tipple. East of Balloch at Blairquhosh the Glengoyne Distillery offers whisky tours and tastings.

This site was a last minute one because Luss was full.

This review is for Milarrochy Bay

This site was a last minute one because Luss was full. We we impressed by the assistance of the staff who waited for us as we had been delayed by a breakdown at Luss. A word of warning shorts may be fine during the day but at dusk become a no-no. I supplied a full ten course meal for all the midges in the area and only realise it when I went to bed - my legs looked as if I had an infectious disease and did they itch. There is a lovely lochside walk into Balmaha which we enjoyed but be warned the shops have limited facilities. The only let down to the site - like that at Luss is the lack of a motorhome service point where you can dump your grey water. 80 litres emptied into a bucket is back breaking as each litre weighs a kilo! Oh and the person who emptied their toilet cassette into the grey water point at a drinking point - you are a lazy waterborne disease waiting to happen. There is a proper chemical loo disposal point laziness is no excuse!

We have just spent a great 8 nights at this site, tremendous pitch overlooking the loch, great weather and very friendly wardens and assistants, reading previous reviews there a lot of negative comments about the site roads, and lack of wifi signal, these have both been sorted the roads are now great and the wifi is everywhere, toilets and shower blocks very clean, shop on site limited but meets basic needs, store in balmaha takes care of anything else, will be back next year. There is a tight corner and steep hill about 1 mile before the site but apart from that easy tow all the way from Newcastle upon Tyne

My walking partner and I booked Millarochy Bay for day two of the West Highland Way on April 8th with our small tent and rucksacks being dropped off there by Travel-Lite. On our arrival we were made to feel extremely welcome; the staff were very friendly and attentive and we immediately felt at home. As there had been heavy rain and the site was not too busy, they very kindly advised that we pitch on a more raised section rather than the usual backpacking tent area, and the condition of the ground was marvellous. The site facilities for walkers are extremely good, with excellent toilet and shower facilities and a wonderful backpackers' hut with lockers, an indoor cooking area, sinks and hot water and a very good seating area in which to relax and mingle with your fellow walkers. The site may seem expensive, but the facilities are absolutely worth the money and the site is a perfect location to relax before your next day's walking. Cannot recommend this site highly enough to fellow backpackers.
