Really peaceful site Really warm welcome and shown round the facilities which are two toilets, one with a shower and sink. Washing machine and wash up area. You get a key for night visits to the loo. Emptying of your cassette is next to the building and tap just outside the gate to the field. Pitch nice and flat with electrics one side of the field and no electrics the other. No views as such as it's surrounded by high hedging and trees. Only noise are the birds singing. Although you feel as if you are in the middle of no where you are only 2 miles from the A12 and about 3/4 miles to shops. Harvester and Toby just down the road towards Stanway where you will also find a Frankie and Benny's, Costa, McDonalds, Sainsburys and further along Aldi. Now there is a park and ride off J28 on the A12. Loads to do in the area like Colchester, Maldon which us a must and Clacton. Huge car boot at Marks Tey on Wednesday and Ardleigh in Sunday. We came from the A120 and found it better to get to the site this way as off the A12 is quite bad when towing. As you come along from Marks Tey turn right towards Copford. Don't take the turn to Easthorpe just past the pub as it's very narrow and bendy but go further till you see a White House and turn right there. You will see a thatched cottage in the distance and then a bungalow on the right and the site is on the left just past there. Will come here again if in the area.

Handy for Pullinger's at Halstead. Very quiet. Great shower room.

Handy for Pullinger's at Halstead. Very quiet. Great shower room. Stayed here before taking M/H to Pullingers for annual habitation service about 30 mins drive away. We were only occupants. Very quiet location at the edge of the small village of Easthorpe which we had a walk round. Just a church & pretty old cottages with big open agricultural fields & Essex skies surrounding. The pub that was, is now a private home. Electric hook-ups on one side & plenty of choice for tents on the other side with shelter. If you are arriving from the A12 go passed church, then open agricultural fields on right & when you see the cream house also on the right, slow down as entrance is just passed that. If you are coming from the other direction when you see the thatched cottage on right slow down as otherwise you'll miss the entrance on the left. Grass pitches which were solid and dry for our stay. Double width very clean shower is in a large bathroom with toilet & sink. There is another toilet next to that. These & washing up sink, freezer & washing machine, & local information all housed in an extension to the cream house. You are given a key to the extension for night visits. You would be wise to take a torch to walk there & back. The site itself is close to the house & has lots of different trees along the edges and scattered around which attract wild birds. Surrounded by fields & well back from the quiet road. Several gates which are closed at night. Danish owner is very friendly. 13 for the night we stayed with hook-up & 2 adults. Lots of footpaths close to site. Nearest pub doing food is probably in Copford where you can possibly also get a bus into Colchester, but check that on Traveline. This site is handy for Colchester Zoo & visiting the town itself which has an interesting museum and lots & lots of history & good shopping. The oldest recorded town in Britain. Also if you were wanting a stop over on route to the ferries near the A12

We stayed here for 2 nights after a recommendation from friends who had stayed a few weeks back. We were met by the owner who was very friendly and she then took us around the site to show us the facilities. Lovely little shower/toilet room made it feel really homely. Everything you could need to camp was available here. We stayed with another couple and only 3 other units so very peaceful and great place to stop if exploring the area as we were. As geocachers we camp regularly and will definitely say this place is well worth a visit and all at a very reasonable price.
