A secluded campsite in rural Essex, near both the coast and the city.
Our pretty Kelvedon Hatch Club campsite in the heart of leafy Essex serves those campers seeking the excitement and attractions of the capital as well as those looking for a relaxing break on the Essex coast.
This 90-pitch campsite is secluded and peaceful and has a really rural feel. All forms of camping is catered for here with a range of facilities including a parent and child room, children’s play area and an excellent dog walk.
The pretty village of Kelvedon Hatch – best known for its once-secret nuclear bunker, now a museum, is close by. Also close is Brentwood, with Mountnessing Windmill – a restored, working post mill – and Old MacDonald’s Farm, a leisure park aimed at children. You can also catch a train from the town to London – buses to the station stop half a mile from site with trains leaving every 10 minutes to the city.
For some beach action, head to Southend. Three Shells, the town’s most central beach, offers easy access to Adventure Island, the Pier and numerous shops, cafes and amusements. Also try the Blue Flag, dog-friendly Canvey Island Beach in the Thames Estuary and the Blue Flag Sandy Shoebury East and Shoeburyness Beaches.
Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we
welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not
permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).
Using Google Maps or Sat Nav may take you on an unsuitable route from the M25, please follow our location map for a better approach to Kelvedon Hatch Club Site.

No motorhome service facilities. One of the poshest sluices I have ever seen - must have cost a bit...
Showers fixed head push button without heat control. Brrrr.
This site has too many rules which give a slightly Caravan Club feel rather than the usual C&CC relaxed feel. Pity and not necessary IMHO.
The lack of recycling is a major put-off for me!

We have been 3 times now and feel very relaxed here. The facilities are spotless, staff friendly. Would recommend this for a long weekend or stopover. Good base to visit other areas even London.
The only thing I would change is the shop opening times, whenever we wanted anything it wasn't open. Nearby is Brentwood high street if you needed anything, and also locally a fish and chip shop and a pub.
