Beautiful setting in a meadow surrounded by trees overlooking the South Downs.

This review is for Oakside Farm Campsite

Beautiful setting in a meadow surrounded by trees overlooking the South Downs. Made to feel very welcome by friendly and helpful owners. Just over a mile to Ringmer village where we cycled for fish and chips. We walked a similar distance to the Raystede Animal Rescue centre where we had lunch and a pleasant look around. Site was a lovely escape with only basic, but very well maintained, amenities which suited us perfectly.

There is a septic tank for emptying portapotti, there is fresh water, peace, space, wildlife and a warm welcome. Don't be put off by the lack of facilities. What is there is clean, sufficient, and works. While I was staying, there were two families on site, clearly enjoying the experience. Campers are met, given an information pack to look at, and a genuine welcome by site owners. The fields are being managed with wildlife in mind and those staying can walk around the mown edges of the fields which was thoroughly enjoyable and resulted in some wildlife experiences greatly appreciated by myself and family members who visited the site while I was there. Ringmer has shops that can supply basics, plus butcher, baker, chip shop, pubs, and garage for refuelling. Lewes is not far away by car, but you are definitely in the countryside. I would have no hesitation in recommending this excellent site.

Firstly a great welcome from the owners who meet you at the gate.

Firstly a great welcome from the owners who meet you at the gate. The access is from a narrow road but is no problem. Lovely open gently sloping site. Amazing views of the South Downs and countryside. The owners give you an information pack which gives details of all local amenities. Pub is walking distance just over a mile to the outskirts of Ringmer. If you have a cycle then other pubs are reachable on quite country roads. We made a very late booking and were accommodated with no hassle. Most other sites were fully booked. So worth remembering if you are looking for a quite site in the countryside. No pressure to leave on departure day. Had a lovely relaxing overnight stay will definitely use again as this site is very local to us.

This is a real gem of a site. There are lovely views of the South Downs and you can walk around the hay meadows and enjoy the tranquility. The owners are very friendly and welcoming and joined us for a beer and chat. We stayed here's one night before going off to the love supreme Jazz Festival and will certainly be back agin if we are in the area.
