Overview

Explore the villages, towns and coast of the south east from this campsite.

Our Crowborough Club campsite lies in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Ashdown Forest, the setting for A.A.Milnes wonderful Winnie the Pooh books is on the doorstep.

London is around 35 miles to the north and the historic spa town of Tunbridge Wells seven miles north west. While the coastal towns of Eastbourne, Brighton and Hastings are around 20 miles away.

The campsite is well laid out. Trees and hedges divide the site giving a more secluded feel in some areas and some sheltered pitches for tent campers. A good range of on-site facilities are available including toilet and showers, a laundry, disabled facilities and a recreation room.

Woodland walks can be enjoyed direct from the campsite and the neighbouring park and leisure centre and swimming pool provide convenient entertainment for younger family members.

Crowborough town is a ten-minute walk from the campsite and offers shops and a good range of places to eat. Visit Tunbridge Wells for its elegant architecture and the Pantiles – a colonnaded walkway where you can browse, shop, eat and stroll.

For family days out visit Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest, Chiddingstone Caste, The Mill Toy and Pedal Car Museum and The Kent and East Sussex Railway. Biddenden is just one of many Vineyards in the area.

Worth Noting

Many pitches are sloping and chocks will be required. Recreation room with table tennis for hire.

Stayed for a long weekend with 2 children (age 9 & 6). We visited Hever Castle and Bateman's (National Trust) from here. Found a lovely country pub, 'The Huntsman' nearby (sadly no kids' menu but perfect for couples) and enjoyed fantastic fish and chips from J. Bennett's at Crowborough Cross (5 mins from site). Only downside for us was no play area, but the boys weren't bothered as there were skate ramps at the Leisure Centre nextdoor, where they spent many happy hours! They also played in the wooded area around the edge of the site and ping pong in the recreation room. Facilities were very clean, if a little dated. Would stay again if visiting the area but not for longer than a weekend with kids.

Such a peaceful site with everything you would expect from a well run Camping and Caravan Club team. Tim and Shirl I have to say we're outstanding. Both extremely 'Friendly' and welcoming. I arrived on site without booking after leaving the site in Folkestone due to strong winds and overbearing families and groups to discover this oasis of calm and tranquility. Tim couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating to my simple requests upon my arrival (even tho he was out cutting the grass!) Well laid out pitches with plenty of trees and shrubs to absorb noise and create a natural countryside environment to relax in. Everything as you'd expect on sight inc toilets, showers, washing up facilities etc. A little dated yes BUT kept very clean and well maintained. A short (10 min) walk into the near by town was on a slight incline but nothing strenuous. Lots of lovely coffee shops, cafs, supermarkets and stores to choose from to buy essentials or just some bits and bobs. A petrol station/garage with shop is also opposite the site entrance if you didn't want to venture into town, together with the site shop selling the usual including gas etc. Am looking forward very much to my next visit, it's defiantly going to be one of my regular retreats.

stayed on pitch 2, pitch was ok, but no night lighting in that area, having to pay extra for wifi seems to be a money making scheme that is most unwelcome to me, wifi should be included in pitch price, which was expensive enough anyway. I have been a club member for over twenty years, have been on many sites, which is why I think wifi should be free. The nightly pitch price on most club sites is to much, these sites are supposed to be for members, many site (none club) are far better value, which seems wrong to me and probably a lot of other members also.
