Overview

Hedge-cutting from 16-18 October 2017.

Our Crowborough Club campsite lies in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Ashdown Forest, the setting for A.A.Milnes wonderful Winnie the Pooh books is on the doorstep.

London is around 35 miles to the north and the historic spa town of Tunbridge Wells seven miles north west. While the coastal towns of Eastbourne, Brighton and Hastings are around 20 miles away.

The campsite is well laid out. Trees and hedges divide the site giving a more secluded feel in some areas and some sheltered pitches for tent campers. A good range of on-site facilities are available including toilet and showers, a laundry, disabled facilities and a recreation room.

Woodland walks can be enjoyed direct from the campsite and the neighbouring park and leisure centre and swimming pool provide convenient entertainment for younger family members.

Crowborough town is a ten-minute walk from the campsite and offers shops and a good range of places to eat. Visit Tunbridge Wells for its elegant architecture and the Pantiles – a colonnaded walkway where you can browse, shop, eat and stroll.

For family days out visit Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest, Chiddingstone Caste, The Mill Toy and Pedal Car Museum and The Kent and East Sussex Railway. Biddenden is just one of many Vineyards in the area.

If you'd like to go glamping then Crowborough Ready Camp is the perfect choice. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Worth Noting

Many pitches are sloping and chocks will be required. Recreation room with table tennis for hire.

WiFi

100% coverage cannot be guaranteed due to rural location, weather conditions and changing flora. These can cause variable signal strength. Hotspots are available. Prices.

Eat Local

There are several vineyards in the area, including Bolney, Sedlescombe and Chapel Down. The Blue Anchor pub smokes its own fish. Farmers' markets are held in the town and Laurel Farm sells local produce.

Stayed a few times here now and love it. It is a great base to visit East Sussex and Kent. As with all club sites we have used the welcome is friendly and the staff helpful. The site is clean and tidy. The town of Crowborough is only a short walk and has the usual supermarkets. Well worth a visit.

Positive points of this site were that it was tidy with well maintained grass. Close to shops and supermarkets. Good location to drive to a number of National Trust properties (30-40 mins) and other visitor attractions. Next door to leisure centre. Pleasant environment with high hedges and trees surrounding site. Water nice and hot. Family shower room & games room. Negative points of this site were that leisure centre can be noisy - loud music going until early hours of Sunday morning. Also appears to be under the London flight path for major airports - bear in mind if you are not used to this. Shower/toilet block really needs updating and was very unappealing compared with other club sites we've been to. There are two amenity blocks on site. Only went in one nearest our tent, but only two showers for ladies so saw a small queue in the mornings. Cleanliness of block OK and regularly checked, but not to the standard we've encountered elsewhere. Six metre rule applies on pitches so family tents have to be pitched sideways on. Arrangement of our tent meant our doors and windows faced neighbours, so didn't feel very private. Felt that site was more geared to caravan/campervans than tents. Overall would describe as OK. Fine for us as we were out all day and only back at night. Would not plan to go back because of facilities (showers/toilets).
