We stayed here for one night to try out a newly-purchased awning.

This review is for Crowborough

We stayed here for one night to try out a newly-purchased awning. The campsite staff could not have been more helpful. They advised us on which pitch would be most suitable and loaned us a mallet when we realised we hadn't remembered ours. The office sells the pegs needed for erecting awnings on hardstanding pitches which was great because our new awning only had normal ones. The washing facilities were not as modern as some of the CCC sites we have stayed on but were immaculately kept. We didn't find a playground for the grandchildren on the site but they enjoyed the big one behind the leisure centre a few minutes walk away.

We were very impressed with this campsite.

We were very impressed with this campsite. We received a friendly and informative greeting and were invited to choose from various spacious pitches. It is a quiet and friendly campsite which has all you would need for basic camping. The toilets and showers are extremely clean and the showers are excellent with plenty of hot water. They have a games room with table tennis and a variety of games to borrow for those wet days! The area is great as there are several National Trust places to visit (Sheffield Park, Chartwell and Nymans are excellent) and Tunbridge Wells is only 7 miles away. We would definitely stay there again and have no quarms in recommending others.

Crowborough is a very nice town with lots of individual shops as well as a selection of the major supermarkets. We found the townspeople to be very friendly and helpful. The site's location in the Sussex countryside is central to several parks, National Trust and other properties and other attractions. The site information room contains many leaflets and guides suggesting a range of activities.

Sloping pitches require extra chocks so take extras as advised on the 'worth noting' area in the Sites book. Toilet blocks are tired but immaculately maintained by the cheerful staff on a regular basis. 'Club' membership of the nearby Leisure centre reduces the cost for a swim/steam/sauna. The walk to town is handy for provisions and having a frequent bus service stopping right outside the entrance is handy. We experienced heavy rain but didn't find the site got overly 'boggy' as others have noted in their reviews. Lewes suited us well (60 year olds) as did Brighton.
