Overview

Explore the villages, towns and coast of the south east from this campsite.

Our Crowborough Club campsite lies in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Ashdown Forest, the setting for A.A.Milnes wonderful Winnie the Pooh books is on the doorstep. London is around 35 miles to the north and the historic spa town of Tunbridge Wells seven miles north west. While the coastal towns of Eastbourne, Brighton and Hastings are around 20 miles away.

The campsite is well laid out. Trees and hedges divide the site giving a more secluded feel in some areas and some sheltered pitches for tent campers. A good range of on-site facilities are available including toilet and showers, a laundry, disabled facilities and a recreation room.

Woodland walks can be enjoyed direct from the campsite and the neighbouring park and leisure centre and swimming pool provide convenient entertainment for younger family members.

Crowborough town is a ten-minute walk from the campsite and offers shops and a good range of places to eat. Visit Tunbridge Wells for its elegant architecture and the Pantiles – a colonnaded walkway where you can browse, shop, eat and stroll.

For family days out visit Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest, Chiddingstone Caste, The Mill Toy and Pedal Car Museum and The Kent and East Sussex Railway. Biddenden is just one of many Vineyards in the area.

Worth Noting

Many pitches are sloping and chocks will be required. Recreation room with table tennis for hire.

Brilliant for bus links to Tunbridge Wells from the site (30mins), bus timetable from the wardens.Tourist information office is in the Pantiles where you can join a guided walk Thursday & Saturdays 5 or free walk leaflet with route and points marked free. Don't miss Claverley Grounds they were beautiful. In the other direction across the road the bus takes (55mins) you to Lewes or Brighton. In Lewes get of at the Pelham Arms walk back on yourself to the old 15c Book shop down a steep hill to the very bottom turn right and along on the left is Anne of Cleves House museum and gardens, well worth a visit, plenty more to do there lovely place. We will return to the site and try Brighton which we believe takes just under 2hours. Wardens are friendly and helpful and plenty of dogs but all very well behaved and not a bark out of them. The weather was not that kind enough to sit out but if it was you could sit with a cup of tea and just watch the many rabbits hopping about. We were in May and have OAP concession and we paid just over 52 for three night hard standing and electric.

We were given choice of views or close to loos, we chose views which were wonderful, that part of the site was the most sloping and exposed, fine for us but we felt very sorry for the poor tent in the same area being battered by high winds ( which were a weather warning) It rained a lot when we were there, and the site drained nicely. It gave us quick access to a lovely walking area, full of bluebells and quite a few dear.
