Overview

  • Campsites next to or within walking distance of a beach

    Top site for beaches

On Scotland's sunshine coast, to the east of the country's capital, Edinburgh.

Our peaceful Dunbar Club campsite is just a stone’s throw from the popular East Lothian seaside town of the same name and adjacent to Whitesands Bay - a long stretch of sandy surfing beach.

Spectacular landscapes surround the campsite, ensuring wherever you are pitched you have a stunning view. Seaward the impressive views extend over the Firth of Forth and Bass Rock – temporary nesting spot for 150,000 seabirds during peak season.

The campsite is well laid out and spacious with 90 pitches, some of which are hardstands. Modern facilities, including a wetsuit shower are available.

Dunbar, three miles from the campsite, offers shops, places to eat and more beaches. East beach, minutes from the town centre is great for bathing, paddle boarding and sea kayaking.

Inland other attractions include East Links Family Park with animals and a narrow gauge railway; the Museum of Flight at East Fortune and the Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick, where you can view gannets, puffins and seals from interactive live cameras.

Worth Noting

Most pitches have sea views and there is a large picnic area overlooking the coast. There is a large Sunday market/car boot sale every week at East Fortune ten miles from the site.

WiFi

The WiFi service is excellent throughout the campsite. Prices.

Eat Local

Belhaven Fruit Farm is four miles from site, and Dunbar High Street consists of almost entirely independent shops including numerous cafés, an organic greengrocer, community bakery, and a wet fish shop.

This review is for Dunbar

This is the second time in three weeks we have stayed on this site. Friendly helpful staff, beautiful setting fascilaties are clean and well maintained. The play area for kids is large and our lot love it. We had a great walk in to Dunbar and all the usual shops eating places as would be expected. The best day we had though was a full day on the beach, only a ten minute walk away. Highly recommend Dunbar to all happy campers and caravaners

We felt that the Wardens were unhelpful with helping us out when we had a Major Problem with our Water Supply. After explaining the problem all they wanted to do was sell us a Hosepipe. They weren't interested at all. Luckily a Caravanner came to our assistance with a Watering Can. 1st time a C. C. C. has not excelled at been "The Friendly Club"

Just back from a couple of weeks at this scenic site (we just didn't look out of the rear windows at the distant power station, cement works and landfill site which can be seen from just three or four pitches on the highest row) where practically all the plots look out to sea and have incredible views. Although we arrived on a busy weekend, the staff took our requirements into consideration and gave us a perfect pitch where our mutts were undisturbed (and were less likely to disturb others) and we had lots of peace and quiet. The dog walks are great: a large field for on-lead walking and also a fenced area for off-lead ball chasing. The site wardens were wonderful, even going so far as to apologise for the weather - although this was obviously beyond their control! They were incredibly helpful regarding a query about our next stay at another Club Site and helped sort it all out for me. The site is really easy to get to from the A1, within close driving / cycling distance of lots of places to enjoy a day out, and in terms of amenities there is everything you could wish for in Dunbar from a large supermarket to independent shops. Gosford Bothy (out to the west) & Belhaven Smokehouse in Dunbar are a must for local produce; Gosford park, Archerfield Walled Garden, Smeaton Estate Parkland, Dirleton & Tantallon & Hailes Castles, Doon Hill (above the site with amazing panoramic views) are all dog-friendly and worth a walk around, and the beaches anywhere in East Lothian are great. Our favourites for the hounds were Gullane to the far west, and Thorntonloch just 5 mins drive south from site with free parking. The National Museum of Flight is a must-see too. 12 per adult, but it really was an incredible day out. In summary, if you get the chance, do visit this lovely site. The weather threw everything it had at us during the fortnight: blazing sun, strong winds, driving rain and a thunderstorm with pink lightning - but we had a wonderful time!
