Overview

    Top site for beaches

On Scotland's sunshine coast, to the east of the country's capital, Edinburgh.

Our peaceful Dunbar Club campsite is just a stone’s throw from the popular East Lothian seaside town of the same name and adjacent to Whitesands Bay - a long stretch of sandy surfing beach.

Spectacular landscapes surround the campsite, ensuring wherever you are pitched you have a stunning view. Seaward the impressive views extend over the Firth of Forth and Bass Rock – temporary nesting spot for 150,000 seabirds during peak season.

The campsite is well laid out and spacious with 90 pitches, some of which are hardstands. Modern facilities, including a wetsuit shower are available.

Dunbar, three miles from the campsite, offers shops, places to eat and more beaches. East beach, minutes from the town centre is great for bathing, paddle boarding and sea kayaking.

Inland other attractions include East Links Family Park with animals and a narrow gauge railway; the Museum of Flight at East Fortune and the Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick, where you can see puffins, seal pups and dolphins.

Worth Noting

Most pitches have sea views and there is a large picnic area overlooking the coast. There is a large Sunday market/car boot sale every week at East Fortune ten miles from the site.

WiFi

The WiFi service is excellent throughout the campsite. Prices.

Eat Local

Belhaven Fruit Farm is four miles from site, and Dunbar High Street consists of almost entirely independent shops including numerous cafés, an organic greengrocer, community bakery, and a wet fish shop.

Where did we go? Myreton motor museum was a surprising little gem. If you like classic motors you will enjoy the visit. Loved the Scottish aircraft museum at East Fortune airfield, and the hands-on stuff at the air museum.

This year we were not disappointed.

This year we were not disappointed. The wardens were so friendly and made us feel very welcome; they had a relaxed approach and did everything they could to meet our requirements. On this visit we went for a walk on the smaller beach that is at the end of the road that approaches the site. Sure the cement works is a blot on the landscape but you don't see or hear it from the site. Once again we had a beautiful view of the coast and were lucky to watch the sunset. The site has lots of little dog walks and quirky features, such as a bug house which our 5 year old loves. It is a short drive to the town which has a brilliant swimming pool (that needs a bit of upgrading but still great). This is good for families. Lots of cafes, shops and a record store. the Dunbar site is one of the best.

This has always been a great site with views over the North Sea/ Firth of Forth, it is even better now that it has a Tarmac road throughout the site. There are New Wardens and they are very friendley and helpful.

We stayed over the Easter weekend and had a great time exploring the beach's and coves along the nearby coast. Weather was kind, if a little breezy overnight, but dry during the day. Awning tie down straps recommended for early and late season, but would be the same at most sites. Very suitable site for dog owner's with a large dog walking area that extends over a stile into fields, which then runs down to the beach, endless walkies. The John Muir Link walk, passes the edge of the site, as does the Dunbar golf coarse. Excellent dining at the Rock Hotel and Roberto's Italian in town, Dunbar has all the shops you need, a very pretty harbor and many quaint and odd shaped houses. A really well cared for site with immaculate facilities and very friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again soon.
