Overview

    Top site for beaches

On Scotland's sunshine coast, to the east of the country's capital, Edinburgh.

Our peaceful Dunbar Club campsite is just a stone’s throw from the popular East Lothian seaside town of the same name and adjacent to Whitesands Bay - a long stretch of sandy surfing beach.

Spectacular landscapes surround the campsite, ensuring wherever you are pitched you have a stunning view. Seaward the impressive views extend over the Firth of Forth and Bass Rock – temporary nesting spot for 150,000 seabirds during peak season.

The campsite is well laid out and spacious with 90 pitches, some of which are hardstands. Modern facilities, including a wetsuit shower are available.

Dunbar, three miles from the campsite, offers shops, places to eat and more beaches. East beach, minutes from the town centre is great for bathing, paddle boarding and sea kayaking.

Inland other attractions include East Links Family Park with animals and a narrow gauge railway; the Museum of Flight at East Fortune and the Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick, where you can view gannets, puffins and seals from interactive live cameras.

Worth Noting

Most pitches have sea views and there is a large picnic area overlooking the coast. There is a large Sunday market/car boot sale every week at East Fortune ten miles from the site.

WiFi

The WiFi service is excellent throughout the campsite. Prices.

Eat Local

Belhaven Fruit Farm is four miles from site, and Dunbar High Street consists of almost entirely independent shops including numerous cafés, an organic greengrocer, community bakery, and a wet fish shop.

To continue from above despite having booked weeks ago and given all sizes of mh and awning as we always do we were told we overlapped the pitch width! What is the point of giving all info if it's not used! We did stay on the pitch as he said he would allow us to overlap by a maximum of 1 foot. Not a good start as we are aware of the rules and have never had this problem before! Just a bit disappointed as this was'the friendly club'. A lesson on customer service is needed by some. Otherwise an excellent site.

Dunbar is well placed for visiting east lothian. Plenty coastal visits.

Dunbar is well placed for visiting east lothian. Plenty coastal visits. Edinburgh within easy reach. There is good walk down by the sea along the John Moore way. The site can be windy so strong pegs required if using an awning.

Friendly welcome at reception, shown to pitch and directed on how to park up correctly.

Friendly welcome at reception, shown to pitch and directed on how to park up correctly. The site seemed popular for a mid week June night, which is hardly surprising as this is a great stop over travelling between Scotland-England. Very clean washing/shower facilities and great to see the organised bins all just outside the main site area.

The site is enough out of the way to be very quiet but close to everything required.

The site is enough out of the way to be very quiet but close to everything required. Lots of people cycled with very easy access to Dunbar itself. The staff even warned about a wedding that was happening nearby but honestly it was not too noisy. You are about 1 minute drive from the A1 but no traffic noise at all. This gives you easy access to anywhere you want to go. There is also an Asda at the Junction off the A1 before the campsite (from Edinburgh). The grounds are pristeen with an array of flower beds and boxes. There was generally a gentle breeze but most importantly it was midge free for my break. Although the site was full for my stay it never felt busy or cluttered. I was in the minority of not having a dog, but again you never heard a sound and there were walks aplenty. I'll definitely be back. Thanks for a wonderful break(sunburn and all!)
