Select lochside pitches are the best option giving great views and direct access to beach.

This review is for Cashel - Loch Lomond

Select lochside pitches are the best option giving great views and direct access to beach. Good access for small watercraft. Some of the site facilities although well serviced are getting a little tired and could do with a minor refurb. Mildew and mould visible on some shower curtains and shower trays. Some of the toilet seats were insecure or broken and some cubicles locked. Mop and bucket provided to clean showers after use but a sqeegee may have been a good idea to help limit the amount of mud or dirt on the floors around the shower cubicles. Some of the access roads around the site were badly potholed and in need of repair and one of the chemical disposal points was out of use and looked like it had been in this state of repair for some time. Still a site I would rerurn to but think its time for the forrestry commission to refurb some of the facilities.

This review is for Cashel - Loch Lomond

Cannot fault the views, but this site is only really suitable for caravans and motorhomes, anyone wanting to pitch a tent and have electric hook up is treated like a second class citizen! We booked a Select (expensive) pitch with electric hook up and a picnic bench! On arrival we were told "We have 3 pitches available 20, 22 or 27, but 2 of them have gone" !! Eventually (pitch numbers not visible) we found the only vacant pitch (20) but the amount of grass available to pitch our tent, among the rocks and tree roots, was only big enough for a small pop up tent! No picnic table and a massive tree obstructing the view too. The 'Select' pitches are more expensive, but are not suitable for any size of tent (unless you want to pitch over rocks and tree roots!), the 'Premium' pitches were waterlogged (after a downpour 8 hours earlier) and sloping (and empty), so again were unsuitable for our 6 berth tent. Money was refunded no problem, but, guess what? We won't be going there again.
