Linger a while on this friendly campsite in southern Scotland.

Moffat is our Club campsite in the Scottish lowlands. It’s an ideal stopping off point for journeys through Scotland. This pretty Victorian Spa town is just three minutes off the M74. But Moffat is much more than just a pit stop, its idyllic location more than warrants a longer stay.

The 180-pitch Moffat campsite boasts a fine setting in a wide valley surrounded by magnificent scenery. The well laid out site has a good range of well-placed facilities catering for all campers needs.

If you choose to linger a little longer in the area, the town of Moffat is a great place to start your exploration. Just a five minute walk from the campsite, the town boasts one of the broadest high streets in Scotland. Here you'll find the fountain topped by the statue of Colvin Ram, the famous Moffat Toffee Shop and the Star Hotel which appears in the Guinness Book of Records as the narrowest hotel in the world. Moffat also offers a variety of shopping including a weekly market on Fridays and a monthly producers market.

Nearby Station Park offers a  variety of attractions including a boating lake and gardens. Next to the campsite the Hammerlands Centre has a garden centre, cafe and fishery.

The town holds an annual walking festival in October and from the campsite you can access some of the finest hilwalking in the south of Scotland. Also close by is the Grey Mares Tail, a magnificent waterfalldropping 200ft from Loch Skene.

There are also a number of historic houses and castles in the area. Drumlanrig Castle near Thornhill - Scotland’s oldest inhabited house - contains artwork by Rembrandt and Da Vinci and has wonderful landscaped gardens and woods. Medieval  Caerlaverock Castle is located close to nearby  Dumfries.

We stayed for 2 nights in our caravan.

This review is for Moffat

We stayed for 2 nights in our caravan. Staff very helpful on arrival and quick check in and showed to our site with a description given about site and surrounding areas by the member of staff. Very clean and organised site. Close to town centre. co-op shop and cafe about 2 minutes away. Cafe serves lovely cheap breakfast. We will def be back. Only thing to mention is we missed turning for site and found it hard to turn round. So look out for the camping site sign.

We only stayed overnight on route to Loch Ness.

This review is for Moffat

We only stayed overnight on route to Loch Ness. The site is located on the edge of Moffat, so it is only a short stroll into the town itself. There is a supermarket next door which is very uselful. We did miss the sign to the site, it could do to be signposted a bit better. Other than that would recommend anyone to stay here.

Had a great weekend with friends breakfast wasn't a problem as you could get a full English at the little caf? at the back of the site. We found plenty of good walks in and around the town as we took the dog, pubs are plentiful some with live music at night also a great Indian and Italian restaurant. Not happy thats other friends couldn't come because they have a twin axel which they were told could only go on hard standing, the next day a twin axel was parked up on a grass pitch also there were a few visitors cars parked on site beside caravans which are not allowed. It would seem that some of the wardens have there own rules.
